Saudi Arabians openly admit to abusing and mistreating Christians and Jews in their country but get royally pissed off if that happens to them elswhere in the world. The Government of Saudi openly outlaws the practice of any religion except Islam. Practicing any religion other than Islam is illegal. All "infedels" are more heavily taxed, cannot practice their religion except in secret, are constantly pressured by the Saudi Government and Religios sector to convert to islam, while any attempts at conversion by a non-muslim is severely punished. Any time another country treats them the way they treat everyone else, they cry..."this is unfair! You have to change your laws to accomodate us!" I say screw that. I say we adopt the same laws as Saudi and see how they like being deported everytime they mention their god just as they do to us. Who are they to think they are better than anyone else? And that question applies to everyone on earth.

P.S. I never mentioned anything about attacking Saudi so I don't know what this "Don Cowl" guy is talking about. I should mention that if you are an idiot, please refrain from posting an answer anywhere. The word refrain can be found in the dictionary if you don't know what it means.

1. We import over half of our petroleum needs, and fifteen percent of that imported oil comes from Saudi Arabia.
2. They're an important player in the region.
Those are two big ones that come to mind. Also, your complaints of how Saudis treat folks of other religions ignores a little thing called national sovereignty. Neither of us may approve of what they're doing, but you're still talking about a sovereign nation. Also, I don't know of any law which has been enacted regarding the treatment of Saudis in the U.S. on account of complaints from Saudi Arabia. It's common knowledge that when you go to a country you're subject to its laws. Unless you're a head of state or a diplomat that's been the rule for a long time.
It's not that I approve of their actions, it's just that if one wishes to make an argument, one should at least bring some valid premises to the table. They don't do what they do because they think they're better (they might, but that's not why they do it). They do it because it's their country and they make the laws how they like.

It is probably the fact the the UAE makes a massive investment in the American economy somewhere to the tune of about 3-5% of the GDP annually. The Saudi Royal family and the Bin Ladens pour massive amounts of money into american oil and gas as well as into provate investment firms like the Carlyle Group.
It should also be noted that some major politicians have had the carlyle group invenst in their family businesses as well as some have sat on the board of directors.

An honest reason is because Saudi Arabia is a stable country and the United States wants to support stability in that region.

...and the majority of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis, and of couse Osama Bin Laden is too.
The reasons are: because the Bush family is very close with the Saudi royal family, and because the Saudis have big investments in the US. So the sleazeballs in DC have decided they don't want to jeopardize that.
