Like 4 months ago I got an unmarked letter in my mailbox that basically said a bunch of things wrong with my house.. Like I left a shovel outside in my background, some hose, and some cable wires exposed. They said to clean it up because it badly represents the neighborhood. I was really pissed at that, but I eventually cleaned up the stuff they are talking about.

Now today I get another unmarked letter (same handwriting) and they say I have too many weeds and my house is becoming an eyesore to them. This neighborhood is very small, town less than 3000 people So its not like beverly hills or w/e

Does anyone else think this guy is wrong? I know I might have a few weeds out there but I was going to get to them, now I feel like not picking them just to spite this guy. What should I do?

I really want to know who this is. I feel like im being harrassed and since there is no address I cant do anything. Is it a police matter? should I go door to door and ask if they sent the letter

It's not harrassment if it's true. If your house is poorly kept up, it downgrades the value of your neighbors' properties. You don't have the right to do that. Spend a week-end and clean it up.

I really know what you mean i have a person like that in our neighbor hood also an the best thing is to ask a neighbor with out say any thing about the letter what it was like when they first moved in the neighborhood an get the down low on every body or put a small camera in front of the house to catch the person leaving the letters but you will have to set a trap that you know like trash on the front porch or just put some stuff in a bunch of bags an leave it out side so you can get them on camera an when you do go to them an let them know that you are trying your best to keep up but thing happen an stop the letters because you don't like it at all good luck.

Michael and Kissa are wrong. This is VERY much a police matter.

If the letter is unmarked, with no postage, no return address, that means the postman didn't put it there. Someone just stuck it in there. That's a FEDERAL OFFENSE.

Posting a hidden camera towards your mailbox is an excellent idea to catch whoever's doing this.

All someone has to do is open your mailbox and they're breaking the law. Find that lawbreaker!!!

I can understand why you are annoyed by this coward, who doesn't have the "cohones" to identify himself or herself. It's probably some little old busy body lady or an anal retentive dentist, who has no life and moved to the enighborhood recently.

The problem is that if you pick at this like a sore, it could escalate out of all proportion, spoiling your good mood entirely. Are you close to a few neighbor you could ask about this? Perhaps they heard someone grumbling.

Meanwhile, I suggest you keep the weeds and grass mowed, because it can become a health issue. You don't deserve to suffer any more over this.

It's not a police matter.

Do you live under guidelines set up by a community? If you do, then be happy the person hasn't turned you in for a fine. If not then maybe their just saying they don't want the block to look like crap. It's better than being taken to court.

I don't think he's wrong, maybe the way he goes about is. We have people in our community who gladly turn people in for the smallest offense, don't make a big deal about it, either take it as a 'hey we noticed this' or as the person before said, let things grow.

You're not doing anything illegal, and obviously the bigmouth who wrote the letters doesn't have the stones to stand behind it by signing his name. You can ignore it to spite some jerk, or you can take some pride in your home and neighborhood -- despite the fact that it isn't Beverly Hills.

"""Post a sign saying that the author of the harrassing letters is welcome to come do the weeding."""...hahaha...too funny!

unless you have a visit from the city itself, or a letter from the city. you can disregard the the "no name included" letters if you like, and do as you wish. until when you are ready, in your own time and way to do it.

if it matters what the "neighbors" may be thinking about you, then i guess it is best to do what they suggest. if for nothing more, than to keep peace. but...just maybe you don't have to do it...right away....ha! ;-) ;-)

I think you should just tear up the letters without reading them and throw them away. It's best to ignore this idiot. It's YOUR house. Maintain it as you wish. As long as you aren't breaking any laws or something, no one has the right to tell you what to do. But I wouldn't make too much of the situation. This coward will hopefully just slink away, if you ignore him. If you make a big deal of it, it will probably be more trouble than it's worth.

If you own your own home or are buying it and there isnt a home owners association i would tend to agree with you about not picking the weeds. As long as your home isnt violating local ordinance you shouldnt have to put up with these letters i would put a camcorder somewhere to catch the annoying person giving you the letters and confront him with it

Install a security camera and aim it at your mailbox. Then you can see who is putting stuff in there besides the mailman. Just a reminder, it IS illegal for people to put stuff in the mail box other than the post office.
