My signature is my full first name, and the first 3 letters of my last (McF with a nice long line through the F), It may seem silly but I have trouble writing my full last name in cursive, it usually ends up a mess, this way it's a little easier :)

I'm a Southern California renter that has been renting this home for over 10 years. I've been denied renters insurance because the home has a wood shake roof that is in disrepair. I've asked property managers to replace with no results.

Besides moving out to a safer home, what actions can I take against the owner/property manager to get this roof replaced? I've already made a buyers offer on the house however owner won't discuss it.

Thanks

How does one get CSE to do anything??? I am completely fed up with these people. My son's father is behind $2000+ in child support which according to the CSE handbook is punishable by lose of license and jail time. They cant even locate my file when I call. So how do I try to work with these people in a polite way to get anything done?

I recently got fired from my job. It has been an extremelly messy break up. The last straw right now is that they will not pay me for my overtime. I believe I am owed $1,400 in overtime. In all of this, I was never given any notice that I would be laid off, my employer is trying to combat my unemployment claim, it has become VERY public (front page story in our local newspaper), my ex boss cleaned out my office BEFORE I was fired and took my file containing my contract with the business along with any notes I had from review meetings. They will not pay me my overtime stating that I was an exempt employee. I had a meeting with my ex boss stating that i was non-exempt because I didn't oversee any employees. We agreed that my accrued overtime hours would count as vacation. Now they will not pay. They have slandered me in the newspaper and I have never been given a reason why I was fired. Do I have a case to sue them? Would anyone represent such a small case? (i live in colo.)

While I'm going to turn 21 next year and aware about the drinking issue that is happening in adults and underage kids with fake IDs, I'm not afraid to talk about this main issue here. Here in the United States that the legal drinking age is 21, but elsewhere in the world, it's set to a lower age. Countries such as Canada, Mexico, England, and Australia set the drinking age to 18, and most of Europe sets it to 16. But in some Muslim countries such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, Islamic law forbids the sale of alcohol, but the big issue I'm talking here is why many countries have a lower drinking age than America's.

Here are the questions that I'm giving you. Why is it that the legal drinking age is lower in many countries throughout the world? Is it because of cultural and/or religious differences? Is it because of safety and everything related to it? And how do the drinking age laws work from country to country?

Thier are so many contraversial issues floating amongst minds these days, I am for it but I want to hear what everyone else has to say. I believe that love is love, love doesn't have a gender, and I think that everyone is born with their sexuality, and some people say that even if you have feeling for another man or woman to ignore that, but then isn't that ignoring yourself?

I mean look at the Muslims they have that Sharia Law, which seems brutal, inhuman, and barbaric. Somehow the point of a justice system got more focused on Reformation of individuals which is the biggest crock ever. Anyone that really beleives a prison will make a man less of a criminal is a fool. The only reason for a justice system is to punish, not correct. The only way to deter crime, which should be the ultimate goal of a justice system is through fear. Chop a thieve's hand off in public and we would see the biggest drop in crime ever. Legalize drugs and crack down on real crimes with harsh brutal punishments. who is with me?

I was was watching HBO TV channel, just to see the movie on genocide in Rwanda. Last part of the movie was the proceedings of the International War Crime Commission, the result was 88 was indicted out them only 22 were punished for differnt terms. The Director made the last statement that those who were involved in killing were taken to task but the countries who had reports in their hands much earlier than the genocide in Rwanda started were not held liable for their failure to stop the genocide, which killed 650,000 people in Rwanda. CIA had a report on that, the then administration of USA honoured the International Law even they did not jam the Radio station which was inciting the genocide only on the ground that the right to information can not be curtailed and allowed 650,000 people to be killed. In contrast the Bush Admisitration is not bothered about any of those thing and in contrary to Rwanda they entered in Afghanistan and Iraq and is killing without any counting, who cares.

Seems to me there are three ways you fight crime:

1. Law as a deterrent
2. Police as a physical deterrent
3. Armed citizens as a physical deterrent

Sadly, our legislatures seem focused only on #1 above, and each time one of them comes into office, it's with the promises of "getting tough on crime" by jacking up the laws and penalties.

Don't believe me? Just ask the guy in California who is serving a life sentence for stealing a slice of pizza (thanks to the draconian "Three Strikes Laws").

Bottom line, is we're not just getting tough on criminals, we're getting tough on ourselves, because it's only a matter of time before you, I, or a friend or loved one crosses the line and gets hammered with some ridiculous sentence.

Want to really get tough on crime? Then fund more police and get your CHL (Concealed Handgun License). But please stop piling on the laws.

Thoughts?

Right now we have joint shared custody, my daughter is 8 months old, and her father is becoming a pest. He quit his job and keeps her for days at a time. Which messes up her schedule. He told me that she doesn't need social interaction until she is 2yrs old. Everything has to be his way, or he threatens to take me back to court. I work 5 days a week, and only have sat & sun off, which he said now that he's not working, he wants to have her those days too. This has to stop. Please someone help! He calls me every hour when I have her tells me he wants me to come back to him. When i don't answer my phone he calls over and over again.
