Courts have established that it is not the polices responsibility to protect you. It is your responsibility! Crime is going to happen for as long as there are people on this earth. Laws aren't going to stop it, government, police, politicians aren't going to stop it. The best you can do is do prepare yourself to defend yourself and your family from criminals that would do you harm.
Go to some firearms classes, train yourself, then find a gun that suits you, and get a carry permit(if you live in a free state). Go to the range once a month, or more if you can afford it, and take responsibility for your life, and the life of your family.
Carry a gun, because you can't carry a Cop.
When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

First port of responsibility is the parents, without their co-operation and parental control then it makes the police's job much more difficult to do. Plus the restrictions placed on the police these days is far in excess of what it once was, one false move and it's the policeman in the dock. I'm not suggesting that they have given up on crime more that in many cases they have done their job only to find the criminal has got off with a caution even for serious crimes, as we see constantly in the papers and the news on TV. The judicial law is now geared towards the criminal and not the victim. Perhaps when that changes you will see more criminals behind bars where they belong.

I agree its bad, and at this rate, we're gona turn into america, but at the end of the day, its always been like it, its just become more publicly known. I mean, think of the yorkshire ripper, it was only made known to the public that ther was a serial killer on the loose after about 4 or 5 murders, whereas now, everytime someone is killed, its made public. But that doesnt justify anything thats been going on.

I think people need to wake up to the rapid, corporate and mega-church sponsored progress toward a fascist theocracy. The nation's poor have been abandoned by the federal government. Setting up a police state is one answer to the resulting chaos. The wrong one.

I think that everyday citizens are all too aware of the gravity of the situation. It's the Government which needs to wake up and do something before society descends into anarchy.

Yep, they sure are. The problem is that there's not enough police officers to catch all the criminals. You should become involved with your city government and advocate higher salaries, better benefits, etc., for your local police so more people will want to join. Then you'll feel safer.

We're awake, but there's little we can do about it. The police's hands are tied and those who seem to be committing the most, and worst, crimes refuse to take responsibility for their actions and the way they are raising their children. They tend to have candle light prayer vigils and blame the police--like you seem to be doing.

the fact of the matter is, overall crime, has been dropping to historic lows for the last 10 years.
doesn't make a specific horrific crime any less outragous, but it's true.

How wrong can you be??? The police aren't letting them run riot, their parents are and the sooner people get to grips with that, and do something about it, the sooner our streets will be safer to use.
