Now, before some moron says something stupid.

Think about this. Wages for both the public and private sector are the largest single factor. Most of business and government budgets are spent paying wages to employees.

Now. The government taxes business and employees a percentage of their income to run government, with their main expense being its' workers. In return, their wokers (public servants) pay a percentage of their income back to the government !!!

Now think about it. Say for example, I pay $1000 in tax over X period. That is enough (roughly) for one public servants wage for the week. Then, they have deducted let's say $350 in tax.

Now I know that a percentge of the tax they pay can be claimed back, but what happens to the rest?

I am sure that if you approached the public servants and said "hey, what if we now pay you a net wage of say $800 for the week and we'll call it even", they'd say OK.

Business would pay less tax, so would private sector employees.

Its WRONG to Drink and Drive let alone HIT and RUN.But mediacorp actor Christopher Lee did BOTH! Worst, one victim had to amputate his toe due to the accident. He(Chris) did not even bother to render any help after hitting the 2 victims.(is like let them die/fend for themselves on the streets) How inhuman is that!Thank goodness the victims survived. After what he had done,he got only 4 weeks jail sentence! Many expected a min of 6 to 12 months will be more justifable. Now many ppl will think its not such a big deal (Drunk Driving, Hit and Run)following what Christopher got.Have the government done enough to drive a stern message to the public that acts like these WILL NEVER be tolerated?

I have been released by my doctor to work only 4 hour days. My job just told me that once my FMLA runs out, if I don't get released full time, then the next day they will terminate me. I have only been back to work a week.

Which would you resort to so that you could feed your children.

Assume all are under non-violent circumstances, i.e., you would not commit the crime if it involved direct physical violence.

1 - theft of food
2 - theft of cash/valuables to sell to pay for food
3 - selling marijuana
4 - selling hard drugs (heroin, meth, anything beyond marijuana)
5 - prostitution (female OR male)
6 - crossing an international border so that you could do "legal" work (i.e. cleaning, gardening, farm work, etc.), although without the legal right to do so.
7 - crossing an international border to do illegal work (selling drugs, prostitution, etc.)

Feel free to qualify any conditions.

Remember, your children are starving!

My soon to be ex-husband.. will be closing on a private residence in the near future. Will I be held accountable for any financial responsiblity when I grant him a quick claim deed to the property? Should I avoid any signing where my name is attached to the property. I do not want the property or any financial liablity to it. Also, we do live in a community property state.

I have been working for the company (river island) for 2 years.
One month ago I was promoted from level 1 to level 2 supervisor and tool on the exra shift.
Now I have been told by the new managers that it was only temporary.
I was never told this, I have not visited my family for months so I can gain supervisory experience, as my work is at the weekend.
Now I am being replaced, I have been demoted back to level 1 with a pay drop also. I am still expected to work the same hours despite me not having worked them before I started the level 2/supervisor episode.
Am I within my rights to refuse with one days notice (I only found out thursday, I am due to work the weekend but back at level 1.)
This feels unfair and I feel walked over, my managers wont speak to me as they are buisy learning the ropes.
They think all the 1 year plus staff are theives as retail has a bad reputation, they dont say this outloud. I am not a thief but feel this is why they have done what they did to me.

What recourse do you have when an employer of a firm of less than 20 people harasses an employee (not sexual harassment) with the intent of making him or her quit and then unfairly fires him?

I was living in a homeless shelter & the managers over the shelter wanted me to go to church, but I told them I don't believe in God. So one of the ladies started throwing my things around & took a mop & pitched my valuables around like a baseball & bat & she broke my computer (physically-it has a big crack in it), but it is still functioning. & then the owner of the Salvation Army shelter saw the mess that she made & blamed it on me & then he got the security guard & the police to escort me out of there, when that wasn't necessary. I was leaving. & then the owner called me crazy & he got upset when the police didn't take me to jail.

Thank goodness I got my own apartment now.

I asked a question about the hypocrisy in illegal immigrants breaking the law to be here and why people who are for it say that it's DIFFERENT because they're doing it for a better life and so on. I got responses saying that maybe we have too many laws, or, ome laws need to be broken for the better of the country. Are you kidding me? This is the logic these people have, LOL. So if I believe the no smoking ban in public places is wrong that I should smoke there and break the law because I think it ought to be broken, lol. I love the logic in this forum. And the sad this is, some of these people will probably be in the senate in the future, lol.

Does anyone need to take on a pro-bono case? Suing in forth district, about to go to 9th Cir. for appeal. Pro se. Harassed by cops for ten years, drawing book has political speech on cover, constantly harassed for soliciting with homeless sign. Arrested, hit in face, blinded in right eye while prone on ambulance. Long court appearances, no convictions. Just relentless shake downs for money and sex. Policemisconduct2003@yhoo.com

I mean there is so much wrong with the planet we try to live on, and there dumping trucks full of cash to a almost meaningless space program. isn't it time to fix the problem of this planet before we cause new trouble on mars, or on a pointless expierment on a shuttle? Just a thought, have we really been to space, or the moon, at all. could this be just a gaint slush fund for another grand scheme by our government. can someone give me irrefutable proof that we were there?

The worse that can happen to him is disbarrment. He put honor student's lives on hold for a year. And he was willing to send them to prison for something he knew they were innocent of.Why isn't he facing jailtime? He swore to uphold the law.Instead he tried to ruin the lives of young men to better himself. Why disbarr him? He already resigned. Those families will sue for millions.
