My soon to be ex-husband.. will be closing on a private residence in the near future. Will I be held accountable for any financial responsiblity when I grant him a quick claim deed to the property? Should I avoid any signing where my name is attached to the property. I do not want the property or any financial liablity to it. Also, we do live in a community property state.

I believe you are speaking of a "quit claim" which would give up any rights you have in the property, but will not relieve you of any obligation you may have to others.

Talk to your lawyer. If you sign a quick claim to the property you will loose everything you have in that property. If you want nothing for the property a quick claim is the way to go.

Law is law. Lawyers make it fair and equitable. I side with others suggesting to get an attorney.
