Pay for a paternity test it will be cheaper than paying child support. That will prove 100% if the child is yours. You may have to wait till it is born...Hire a lawyer if there is any trouble on this front as sometimes it can save you $$..

I don't know how old you are, but it sounds like the baby isn't quite a year old. I have a couple basic questions, like did you acknowledge paternity or sign the birth certificate? Whose last name does the child have, are you supporting this child more than 50% financially and emotionally? Is the mother using state aid? How many children do the 2 of you have between you, and if you love this woman and child, how come you didn't marry her? I know you have formed an attachment to this child, but this woman doesn't have a strong enough attachment to you. Which means without any legal rights, she can replace you in this child's life anytime she wants. I'm not saying she hasn't been completely honest with you, but If she wants you to be the only father her child knows, why didn't she tell the other guy that there was no way in hell this baby was his? I'm not trying to preach, but your girlfriends behavior although human, was loose and despicable. She should have been ashamed to let anyone but you know what happened that night. She should never have confirmed this other man's suspicions with an answer. The only people she owed an explanation to for her behavior is you, this baby, and herself. GOD already saw her. It would be in your best interest to decide if you want this female a part of your life forever and then get a paternity test. If this is your child, you owe it to yourself and your baby to protect him from being removed from your life. If you think about it, that one night stand may not be the end of her inappropriate behavior. And if the baby isn't biologically yours, the child deserves to know the truth and have a relationship with his father. If his mother is worth your love and trust, then the baby will have the love of three parents. Make sure that you and his mother are committed and FAITHFULL to each other. Otherwise, if you aren't the father, she will use this child to hurt you and there won't be a damn thing you can do about it. Make your connection LEGAL!!!!

You can hope this is your son! However, if he proves not to be, what are you going to do? The other man in question has just as much claim to the child as you do. He is interested, or it wouldn't even be a topic of discussion! What you don't have the right to do is this: Interfere in his Visitation with the Child, speak badly to the child about his father, try to adopt the child when he has a willing father, tell lies about the father who you resent, influence your Girlfriend about the child, become the father of a child who you know is not yours!
Until Paternity is established you need to Hold Your Horses! If it is your child, then love the child!

Without a state, no one can help you. Even knowing the state, the possible father can probably force a paternity test. You might as well both take it, and get the mystery over with. If you are not the father, the other guy might be willing to let you adopt the child, but - if you are not married to the mother, she will no longer be the mother. A little late to ask for legal information.
