Recently on 4/24/07 I recieved a tax penalty in the mail from 2001. Me and my ex-wife were married between 2000 and 2005 aprox. She failed to pay some taxes on her job because she was paid under the table. I am now remarried and have a daughter. My ex-wife has always been controlling and abusive and always blamed me for everything. Well when I called her the other day to ask her to pay half of the $1044.00 debt she told me you know what you are responsible because you always took care of the bills and then I try to explain to her and she said why do you keep talking so I stopped. Then she just said she will not pay. So I live in another state and to fly over and take her to court would cost $500 at least so that would already be more her half so I would lose the money anyways. Is there anything I can do to not be walked over again I feel so bad about losing this money too. Thanks for all of your help and answers!

I've agreed to allow an associate to move in to my house 2 years ago after many persuassion. Not long after he moved in, I've found out about his "disturbed characters" which was in total opposite from the person I got to know before. He cheated many people (mostly his so called girlfriends), he borrowed stuff and money and never return them, he has many blades n knives that he kept hidden in his room and I also found out that he's a member of a gang. To top that all up, he had never paid a single cent for anything! Not long after, I've decided to ask him to leave but was greeted with an abusive response. He threatened me at one time that he's not going to move out. Disturbed, I decided to move out myself (even though the house is mine), yet he does not want to move out (he's stuff is still in my house). I could take legal action but I'm afraid of the consequences. Should I go to the police? What action will be taken against him?

Recently we asked a family of people to leave our church because of conduct problems. The wife and daughter devised a terrible story about me and my wife and turned us into the department of human services (dhs). I know it was them although the dhs would not tell me who it was. I want to handle this matter in a legal fashion. Is there any way to get their names released so that I can act on prosecuting them? I am so humiliated!

Thanks,

Jerry

I helped a friend buy a car and loaned him $1000. He paid $300 to me but has since changed his mobile phone number, job, and moved house so I am unable to contact him! I saw him out at a bar and he said he would pay, but I have still not heard from him in 6 months.

What course of action can I take to get the money back?

Is it worth taking civil action or will that cost more than it's worth?

Someone was griping about bad college instructors the other day...their entire class maintains the majority of test-questions were never discussed. Supposedly little of what they prepared for appeared on the last 3 tests. Someone said a college got in trouble over a similar situation? Seems to me it would be hard to prove/win a case like that! Sadly colleges can get away w/ a lot...

I am a service person who went into a commercial building to make a repair, while I was there I noticed signs of a major construction flaw that could potentially cause harm or even death to those people who work in the building. Should I make a big deal about this and file a formal complaint with the state and potentially cause the loss of jobs for the engineer who designed the building and the inspector who approved the plans or should I just fix the problem and let it go. The building is only 3 years old and anyone with any sort of education in the field should have noticed the problem before the building was erected.
