Why do serial killers want to kill people? does it stem for hatred towards a certain social class? I am doing a report and i wanted to know if any mental disorders are directly associated with serial killers?

Everyone has the capability to kill. Its in our nature. With that said, most of us have the ability to repress such urges without even thinking about it.

There are many many reasons (reasons to them that make sense) that serial killers choose to kill. Some suffer from torment and religous beat downs from parents- such as Ed Gein. I don't think that he was ever diagnosed with a certain disorder, but from every thing that I've read, it seems that he suffered from dementia and a morbid self image--most of which was brought on by his devoutly religous mother.

Some serial killers get a sexual high from killing and tormenting their prey such as Jeffery Dahmer. Others want the attention without giving their idenity away like the Zodiac. To this day, no one exactly knows what happened to him. He loved the media attention and thrived from it.

I could go on and on, but this seems to be enough. lol

Why do serial killers want to kill people? Uh, 'cause they're wacky. I don't think it 'stems' from any particular social class. Some killers have issues with a person's appearance....like they look like their mom that molested them when they were a child. Or they just want to kill someone and it doesn't really matter gender, age, location...nada...just an urge. IMO

They don't think; most have what is known as an "irresistible impulse" to do what they do, so would probably fall under Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

There is no one reason or diagnosis for why they do what they do; some do have legitimate chemical disorders that will show up in a PET scan, some were abused as children and some had very normal lives right up until the time they snap.

some serial killers want to kill other people becasue they might be too jealous of them, they might have a hatred for a certain social class; as an example Hitler, but usually they might be normal people that were pushed to the very brink of insanity and maybe over it and they see that if they can't be happy that no one should be happy and they deserve to all die.

Let's stop making excuses for these pricks. Face it, there is evil out there embodied by serial killers. They are not driven wildly to kill, but carefully chose the place...usually a "gun-free zone" such as a school, shopping mall, post office, etc. The last person they want to see is a licensed gun carrier who might terminate their party and cut them out of all that publicity. Mental disorder? Most likely they were raised by parents who let them do anything they pleased, never paddled them. Remember we took the paddle and God out of school because spanking was too violent. We need to tell God to come back to school and bring His paddle with Him.

it's one or the other. sometimes they do it out of hatred towards a certain social class and other times they're just plain old wonky.
