John Smith writes me a check for $100. It is drawn out of John Smith's account with ABC Bank and the signature on the front is his (no issue of forgery). The check is made payable to me.

I sign the back of the check (nothing else). I give the check to a local store who cashes the check for me on the spot. The check ultimately bounces.

Do I have any liability for that?

Setup: a parent buys a car and thier daughter exclusively drives it. Daughter (Jane) is involved in a accident and has no insurance at the time. Jane has an aquaintence that owns a body shop, so she takes the car there. The body shop owner says the best thing to do is for her to get insurance and give him the info, and then he will file the claim and in the mean time he will give her a loaner car. Jane thinks this sounds like a good plan and agrees. A couple months later, Jane is involved in another accident in the loaner car. The body shop owner then starts implying that he needs be getting sexual favors for all the help he is giving Jane. Jane refuses and the body shop owner stops being so helpful and tells Jane she needs to pay over $9,000 in charges to get her car back. $500 for her car and $8500 for the rental. Jane's parents names are on the title of the car and Jane has no legal athority to have any work done on the car. How can Jane's parents get their car back?

"AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry said Monday that Texans who are legally licensed to carry concealed handguns should be able to take the weapons anywhere, including churches, bars, courthouses and college campuses. "

Do you want people carrying guns into your church?

Is it responsible for people to carry guns into bars...where people are drinking heavily...and are more prone to bar fights...

Is this really the solution to our nations problems...for all of us to strap on a gun?

Is this what our world has become...a bunch of vigilantes?

Does this scare you as much as it does me?

Your thoughts?

I'm talking about the recent case against Rakhi Sawant. If she had Budda Statue in her background while in the bath tub what's wrong? Prior to this Shilpa Shetty kiss affair. Like this there are many instances. The most stupid thing is that the courts also for cheap publicity entertaining such stupid cases there by losing its' credibility. It is an open fact that the lower judiciary in India is highly corrupted.

Basically, 2 months ago, 4 of my friends and I got caught by police with burglary tools on the way out of the neighborhood. All we did was break a window, we didn't even step on the property. 4 of us got out on bail. The one that stayed was the one that threw the rock. He plead guilty to burglary, not attempted burglary. He had a public defender and got 5 years deferred adjudication.

My question is, what do you think are my chances with a private attorney? None of us have prior offenses. I don't even have a traffic ticket on my record. Most people I've talked to said I'm probably gonna get 2 or 3 years probation.

Now that the ruling says that ANY photo of you is copyright to you, and all photo's of me are licensed to my daughter, does it mean that if ANYBODY takes a photo with me in it they have to pay copyright.
Traffic cameras, crowd scenes, somebody elses holiday snaps.
It also means that they cannot be used for ANY gain (fines?) without my daughters WRITTEN permission.
Can someone now clarify the mess we are now left with.
The ramifications are colosal. You see a car crash, you have to get permissions from all involved, no news about wars, in fact no news!!!!
It has been stated that no unauthorised photo is acceptable.

I took out a loan to replace my furnace when the old furnace went bad. I was paying off my loan when I lost my job due to lack of work and I am unable to make payments as agreed. I offered to make and have been making smaller payments and made the creditor aware I am selling my home to pay them and the mortgage both in full. They threatened to sue me but today I got a letter from the branch threatening to do the suing, saying I had been approved to borrow additional monies with no payments for two months. There are only 5 people in that office and they are computerized and can look up my account before they make these offers. I replied in writing with a payment for May declining the loan offer but thanking them for accepting my offer to make smaller payments by offering to lend me more money. Since they offered to make me another loan in writing knowing I could only pay partially, are they legally bound to accept the smaller payment on my current loan?

I ask this out of half curiosity/half pointedness.

How do you deal with people who are dying who would otherwise benefit from stem cell research? Do you feel responsible for their deaths?

I ask because it seems delusional to say "we should NEVER kill anyone." Wel, we are killing in Iraq right now. Being honest is a virtue also, yet people lie because inconsequential lies allow tolerance. My point is, finding a middle ground, no matter how hard it is to agree upon, is better than the extremes IF ONLY the agreed upon matter maximizes the most interests.

OK, my dad got a jury duty (state of California). He's got all the requirements but we're not sure about him being a citizen of the US. He is from Europe, has a working VISA, lived here for over 2 years, has a social security number and speaks english on a proficient level. Can someone tell me and hopefully give me a website where it states the requirments of a foreign person becoming a citizen? You'll be a really good help!
