I am not sure where you stand legally but I would go back to the shop and complain - I dont think they should be giving out that information in the first place.

This is pretty hard to sort out, but the question seems to be why it was leaked, and what can you do about it.
Well, there is no "why".
As far as what you can do about it, really nothing that will matter much. You can call the store where the person works, or the President of the company, and complain. About all that'll happen is you'll get an apology, she'll get fired.

Yes, you definitely have the right to call up the company and speak to the manager or whoever is in charge and file a complain against that girl. She breached your contract and your confidentiality and she had no business telling your ex girlfriend anything. That is a place of business and there are certain policies that you have to abide. By all means take action and I hope that she learns a valuable lesson to keep her mouth shut.

I don't think you should complain to the company as this girl could lose her job from just a bit of naivety. Instead, I'd tell your ex to tell the friend to tell the flower shop employee that they shouldn't have done that.

I would have thought that it was at least a breach of the data protection act (1984), whether that's enough legal backing to sue or something I don't know, but the very fact that you thought this company would offer anonymity and they didn't should be enough for you to make a complaint.

by all means complain, but what do you hope to achieve?
to get someone the sack? compensation? you can't alter what's happened by insisting that you are the subject
of a broken contract but you may have to accept the consequences of forcing the issue
bet your ex was pleased with the flowers anyway!

Never mind about the naivety of the girl - she's got a mouth far too big on her and it should be shut. You never know WHAT damage she could do by giving away what is tantamount to "restricted" information. Report it to Interflora ! ! !
