Do you guys think children under the age of 18 be permitted to work? If not, why not? If your answer is yeah, what specific regulations should exist to protect young workers? Should there be a minimum age?

I saw this article in the Metro newspaper where a prisoner tried to commit suicide but a guard saved him, so he got compensation to the tune of $500,000 (thereabouts) because of this thwarted suicide attempt. Is this real or is it a joke? Is it me, or is there something not quite right here?!! This is insanity! Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this?

I once worked in a mental health facility for juveniles. One young man was there for sexually molesting some younger kids. Turns out he had been molested by his father and older brother at gun point when he was younger. Makes sense he would do what he did. Would he have to be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, or can sex offenders get off that list by say, getting treatment, going a long time without reoffending, passing plethysmograph tests and such?
If you have source information available to go with your answer, I'd appreciate that. Thanks

OK I asked this yesterday and I got a lot of good responses.
I got a call from a man from a comp. called CCS and he threatened me with a law suit because I owe a bank money from my credit card from there. He demanded payment or I would be served from the police that very day - so I gave him my checking account info and he said it better not bounce or else!
So I called my bank and they were all flustered and sent me over to the credit card comp I was part of before all of this - they said my account was sold to a creditor but with a completely different name (I think it was called sherman financial) anyways I asked him what I should do and he said I have to pay them now (deal with them ) and to call the creditor ppl.
should I still stop payment on the check? i'm afraid to and I looked at my account online and its still ok . could he really sue me?

What would you think of a law that says the loser of the court case pays. You can be sued or charged with a crime and you will need to spend money for a lawyer to represent you. If you are found not guilty or the suit was wrong do you think that the loser should pay. It might cut down on some law suits. Encourage lawyers to try thier best and not just what the client can afford. It might make DA like the one in the Duke case think twice taking on about trying to cash in on political capital if he also was facing the bill that parents now have to pay if the case is dropped.

1 in 39 Americans are in prison. We have the largest prison population in the world. Many more have criminal records. You can asked to have your record expunged after a period of time. If you have no further convictions should we automatically clear your record after x number of years? Of course there would be exceptions but does it seem right that a person can be convicted for a crime like drug possession at 18 and have a record for life? Which is more serious a drug possession with a record for life or a DUI that drops from you driving record? There needs to be room for balance.

THe company's security said we impersonated him so had to go to bank to verify his name and photo ID and the bank called them in person. My husband said he was sorry we did it this way but he was unavailable to speak on phone at that time and was a bad choice to do it that way
Can they press charges for this?

Hard-Luck Lottery Winner Says He's Broke
Tells Lawyer Thieves Emptied His Bank Accounts
AP

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jan. 12) - A man beset by problems since winning a record lottery jackpot says he can't pay a settlement to a casino worker because thieves cleaned out his bank accounts.

Powerball winner Jack Whittaker gave that explanation in a note last fall to a lawyer for Kitti French, who accused him of assaulting her at the Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center, a slots-only casino near Charleston, according to a motion French's lawyer filed this week demanding payment of the confidential settlement.

Whittaker won a nearly $315 million on Christmas 2002, then the largest undivided lottery prize in U.S. history. He took his winnings in a lump sum of $113 million after taxes.

Since then, he has faced his granddaughter's death by drug overdose; he has been sued for bouncing checks at Atlantic City, N.J., casinos; he has been ordered to undergo rehab after being arrested on drunken driving charges; his vehicles and business have been burglarized; and he has been sued by the father of an 18-year-old boy, a friend of his granddaughter's, who was found dead in Whittaker's house.

To let the people know this act if law would eliminate the I.R.S and the 16th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. All income by a citizen would go into the citizen's pocket and only will pay a tax if he or she buys something brand new. Learn this Act and demand its passing into law. Act on table since 1999

Does anyone have any tips or good links to do this? I would like for it to sound as professional, and be as protective as possible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

abortion is not murder, but killing a pregnant woman is double murder? Listen, I'm not advocating any stance about abortion or the pregnant woman thing, I just wonder why its inconsistant. If abortion isn't murder, shouldn't the pregnant woman murder only count as one? I'm just curious as to how these two seemingly inconsistant laws can co-exist.

And really people, I'm not advocating one stance or another, I'm just asking about these two laws. Don't jump all over me, just explain it to me. Thanks

All of the sites that list the registered offenders have a $15 to $25 dollar charge( this includes the justice bureau) to get further information on each offender. I want to differentiate those offenders who had consensual sex with a minor from those who are pedophiles or predators. You can't tell this from the charge listed on the registry in most cases. There are 70 registered offenders in my town. I can't afford to pay for all their files. I wonder if any parents or organizations have a way for me to find this information out.
