I saw this article in the Metro newspaper where a prisoner tried to commit suicide but a guard saved him, so he got compensation to the tune of $500,000 (thereabouts) because of this thwarted suicide attempt. Is this real or is it a joke? Is it me, or is there something not quite right here?!! This is insanity! Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this?

As an evil, multi-culturalist, PC lunatic I suspect that prisons have a duty of care for their charges. If a prisoner (and, try to understand, a human being) feels s/he is unable to cope with life, requests help from warders and that help is refused and left uninvestigated, leaving the prisoner bereft and isolated with no alternative but to attempt to end their life, the duty of care has been neglected and, in law, the prisoner has a right - a human right - to recourse.

They a minimum of contacted you declaring they have not made a communicate for some reason unknown. you received't get reimbursement because they could take see you later as they want to procedure your extension. Im a prison officer in the UK (essex) and i am a suicide risk assessor, i've never heard of this one, and i feel i would have it's probably rubbish?
