abortion is not murder, but killing a pregnant woman is double murder? Listen, I'm not advocating any stance about abortion or the pregnant woman thing, I just wonder why its inconsistant. If abortion isn't murder, shouldn't the pregnant woman murder only count as one? I'm just curious as to how these two seemingly inconsistant laws can co-exist.

And really people, I'm not advocating one stance or another, I'm just asking about these two laws. Don't jump all over me, just explain it to me. Thanks

To liberals or pro-abortionists it seems that when the pregnant woman's intentions are good (saving her life or health, can't afford to raise a child, would miss out on school or work to complete the pregnancy, etc.) that somehow justifies the murder of the fetus inside her as not bad.

This utilitarian approach to the value of human life is becoming increasingly popular in our country because of its practical value alone, since it is clearly not a morally valid view of human life, bearing the inconsistency described above.

Interesting but wrong, there is no inconsistency.

Killing a pregnant woman is a double murder because it is a DESIRED pregnancy, that the woman/couple intend to bring to term.

Abortion is not murder, because it is an UNDESIRED pregnancy that will be terminated as soon as doing so becomes viable.

A similar comparison would be homicide and euthanasia

Euthanasia: “The act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal; injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment” (American Heritage Dictionary, Fourth Edition).
www.spayusa.org/main_directory/02-facts_and_education/dictionary.html

Homicide: consists of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, defined as the willful killing of one human being by another. Not included in the counts for this offense are deaths caused by negligence, suicide, or accident; justifiable homicides; and attempts to murder or assaults to murder, which are classified as aggravated assaults.

It's because of the pressures of both sides, can't have middle ground, the pro-lifers are religiously motivated to a large degree and the pro-abortion people don't dare give an inch

Alex its the potential that is the argument, as if the pregnant woman was bearing the clid and not in the process of aorting it, then I assume they call it murder, you're right it doesn't make sence.

i want my 2 points so ill rack my brain and answer this best i could: law saays abotion is not murder(its still her body..) and women can make a choice about their own body. the unborn fetus still has potential to become a full grown HUMAN BEING, but iff you murder a pregnant woman IT WASNT HER CHOICE wether the baby died...so its considered double murder(the woman and the unborn baby).. sry if this wasnt good enough

This shows the conservatives have made in roads.

The pro-abortion lefties have to justify that abortion is not the heinous thing it is.
