I've been trying to find legal work for the past month but it seems that this is a "limbo" stage.

Attorneys looking for help have responded that they are interested but don't want to hire someone in this situation in a clerk capacity because (rightfully so) they probably won't stay on when they become licensed. They say they would rather hire someone still in school.

Also, I cannot do serious attorney work because I am obviously not an attorney. I also don't like "spamming" firms with resumes.

I am wondering if I should continue to pursue legal work in the next 4-6 months (i.e. there are options I just haven't found them) or better spend my time doing non-legal work (restaurant, bar) until I am (hopefully) licensed and then seriously look for legal work.

I hear a lot of people complain about the USA PATRIOT Act, making claims about warrantless wiretapping, Big Brother tactics, etc. and about losing their civil liberties. I've received conflicting information about whether or not the FBI has to seek a warrant to do these things. If it doesn't, at least regarding American citizens, that would seem to me to be a violation of the Fourth Amendment.
Does it or not? Please back up your answer with a factual link, meaning an actual news or information site, not a blog or opinion piece.

i simply dont understand how Hereditary Peerage fits Democracy. how can a rational country with sensible people put up with a group of people who are of questionable background, never voted in, impossible to vote out and their hands surgerically attahced to gin glasses, think they have anything to do with Democracy? how does this fit into today's world? what has England been thinking?

take all the time you need to answer this question. i taught in the unviserity for years and it simply baffles me.

Here's my situation. About 2.5 mns back my B/F was working at IHOP as a cook. Originally they hired him in at $9/hr. His first check was for $6/hr. Manager said he'd change it. Second check was also for the same amount. Still no change. In his 6th week he got fired for, get this, "not enjoying his job enough." Now they refuse to pay him his last check. We have called Wage and Hour and they keep saying it's all "tied up in red tape." It's been long enough and we are way behind on our bills. I thought maybe I'd intimidate them a little by dressing up and going over there saying "Hello, my name is. . . I represent . . . if you don't have his check ready by say, a month from now expect to see us in court." Is that legal?

Walker County
Child turning 5 on September 18 was admitted to school August 8. This child was then pulled from school and refused admission because she does not turn 5 by September 1. This child passed all of the entrance tests and is even a candidate for gifted services. The parent spoke with the principal, who merely repeated over and over that it is the law. How does the parent contest the decision and ask for an exception?

.......would like to make sure that his crack-pot family DOES NOT get custody of our daughter if we should die for some reason or another. We are going out of town for 2 weeks and thought this would be a good time to get some legal documents together that guarantee that my parents will get her.

Does anyone know of a good website that we could print up a blank form fill it out and have it filed on our own. Also, will writing a letter that states our wishes and having it notarized suffice? Would a notarized letter be something his family could contest?

I got a ticket for assault 4 and harassment back in May. My job found out and they "suspended" me until trial. Well the DA gave me a plea bargain to drop the assault 4 and plea to the harassment but when I complete classes, do community service, and pay fines I get it discharged. Well I asked my work if I do that can I go back to work and they said more than likely, yes. So I did and now they are hesitating on giving an answer. I lost money and insurance benefits because I couldn't pay them. What should I do? Serious answers only please!

First off I am not a minor. I had to go to the dentist three different times to fill cavities. Well my last appointment was next week and I had to cancel it because I will be out of town. I left a message on the phone because no one answered. The next day they called my DAD and told him I canceled the appointment and asked him if that was ok. He told them that they should not cancel it (he didnt know I wouldnt be in town yet) until he talked to me. Then I called this morning to confirm it had been canceled they asked me if I had talked to my dad and told me I could not cancel it unless I had. My parents insurance is paying for it. But like my college cant give my parents information unless I give them permission even though my parents are helping with paying (I'm doing most of that) because I have a Right to Privacy. So is the dentist office allowed to "tattle" on me if I reschedule an appointment?. Only those who know for sure answer please!

We moved in our duplex on June 1st. About 2 weeks later our landlord decided to come over due to a complaint we had made about the air conditioner. The next time we talked to him he told us how disgusting our place was. Saying that dishes weren't done and our bed was not made, etc. Then he went on to say that if it continued he would evict us. Then last night he came over again, handed us a 3 day notice saying that unless we kick the 3rd person out living there we would be evicted (there is no one else living there) - He also went on to say that our neighbors had informed him that they can hear us in the shower for 45 min at a time (which is false) and that he will be sending us the water bill (which in the lease says that he is responsible for) He continued and started saying that are cars are not washed and that we need to get our broken window fixed and that only 2 cars are allowed on the driveway in a 24hr period (our neighbors have 4 OUTSIDE their garage.) Is our landlord...cont'

My hubby is adopting my son. My ex was listed on the BC but he is not the father. I have no idea who the father really is. The ex knows he is not the father and hasn't seen my son since he was a month old. Lawyer said I had to call my ex to have him come to her office to sign rights away. I am terrified of this man...extremely abusive. I made the calls against by better judgement and told the ex he was done with his part b/c the lawyers said that was all that is needed from him. Now 2 months before we are done the lawyer decided he should sign yet another form that is already covered in the first one. Her reason is to be just more clear about everything. Knowing I HATE this man and wish never to have anything to do with him she says I have to call him again to make more arrangments. Isn't that pat of her job? Shouldn't she be doing all this? Isn't that part of the reason hubby and I are paying her?

The guy in front of me slammed on his brakes in the middle of an intersection, I dinged him. No air bags went off. The first thing he said when he got out of his car is that he'd been going to a chiropractor for 6 months from the last guy that him and just got his neck straightened out - and I went and screwed it all up again. I was not charged, fined, or ticketed. Damage to my vehicle was $200, his insurance claim was $5000 but for some reason he never followed through.

Can I still be sued for damages or can I breathe a sigh of relief?

This is in Ontario Canada.
