I was born in Poland, and live in the US for about 10 years now. I speak the language well. As much as I believe every one should learn to speak english, I still think they should embrace their own native language.

~Language is a touchy issue in this country right now. The fact that you speak both English and Polish is wonderful. You are a prime example of people who come to this country (as our ancestors did) and adapted by learning English while maintaining the language and traditions of their native country.

I think that everyone who lives in this country should learn to speak English since it is the "native" tongue. By learning English and maintaining their native customs and traditions, our ancestors made this country a true melting pot. The object is to assimilate the good from all backgrounds and add to the uniqueness of our country.

America is like a big, delicious stew. Everyone here is a different ingredient put into the stew which adds to the flavor and texture of the overall stew.

Ignore the e-mail and congratulate yourself on being bi-lingual. I am always amazed when I travel out of the U.S. how many people in other countries are bi-lingual. So, before I travel to a new country, I always try to learn some of the language. It makes it more fun.

Ha..........In some ways, yes I do.........If I go to Europe, am I not expected to have a clue about their language????? Did you know that the Mexicans are trying to have the Star Spangled Banner translated to Spanish???? I think this is so wrong.......It was written by an american in English, and should stay that way.......

It's unrealistic. Latinos are huge consumers and good for business. Companies wouldn't do this because it'd have an adverse effect.
