No.
Under our constitution, a church has no more and no less legal protection than any other organization or association. A criminal cannot claim sanctuary in the Elks Lodge, or their local Social Club, and they cannot claim sanctuary in a church.
The church-sanctuary idea arose centuries ago, before America was formed, when the Church was as powerful as many of the monarchies, and was immune to secular law. So, the Church could do anything it wanted, because it either controlled the local government, or was immune from it.
Under our laws forbidding the unification of church and state, a church is not immune to secular law enforcement. While police are often more respectful of apprehending someone inside a church, the church has no special legal status.

Yes.in the eyes of God everybody is the same and equal.
but in the hands of Law everybody has to be treated equally making those criminals stand out and will look different compared to the rest of the law-abiding citizens.

I think if someone confesses a crime to someone, ex: priest, lawyer, doctor, that person should not have to keep it secret. If you tell you're spouse, that's not considered confidential and they can be required to testify.
Why should criminal be allowed to confess to anyone and get away with it? They obviously get the benefit of getting it off their chests, but then think they shouldn't have any repercussions.
The legal system is a joke!
