LOL.
Just stop. Haven't you ever heard of self control?
Find new friends. Sounds like you hang out with a bunch of lowlifes and have therefore become one yourself.
I DON'T think you should turn yourself in. I just think you need to stop. If you turn yourself in, you're gonna screw up your future.
Hmm well you'd better hope you don't steal enough for a felony charge or you're definately going to jail.
And by the way, your luck will run out and you will get caught. Stop now, while you're ahead of the game chickie.
Sounds to me like you get a high from this. It's addictive like gambling. You just need to find something else in life that's going to give you that same high without the consequences.
And if nothing else, I could guilt you by saying: What would your mom think of this?

Give yourself other things to do during the times you'd be out 'shopping'. Distract yourself with other activities so that you aren't running around the stores on a daily basis. Another good idea is to carry a smaller purse with you so that you are less tempted to take bigger ticket items or more of whatever it is you find. Just remember that if you are in those stores often, and trying clothing on all the time (from what they can tell) without making any purchases, you WILL get caught. I found that most businesses won't do anything for a great long time until you are caught by police. Since you're 20 it would be a really bad thing to get caught for shoplifting, totally different world from when you would be a minor.
1. carry a smaller purse
2. keep yourself busy with other hobbies
3. avoid window shopping with your friends a little bit
the less time and storage space you have, the less you'll be able to do it.
BUT if you do continue just remember which stores to stay away from, e.g. businesses with salespeople on the floor all the time, mirrors on the walls and ceilings, number of customers in the store at the time.
One of the best ways I think of not getting caught, is to be discrete as possible and purchase something small on your way out. Like, paying for one shirt whereas you have three more already in your bag.

Stay out the stores and the malls. I have the opposite problem, I love to "shop". I tend to spend a lot of money when I go shopping so, I stay out of the stores and then I don't shop. You don't want to get caught, it is very imbarrassing and can ruin your life. It just isn't worth it to continue. You might want to get some new friends too as, they have probably not made the decision to stop. I know you know that this is a crime. There is nothing cool about stealing. The rush and excitement you feel is nothing compaired to the feeling of standing before a judge and a jury of your peers awaiting your sentencing. You have made the decision to stop, now stop.

You need to get into a program for cleptomania. You need counseling. This behavior, as you are describing it is actually an addiction. You need to treat it as an addiction. If your probation officer is helpful to you, you might even ask for his/her assistance in getting into the right program. Otherwise, you're right. Your life could change drastically!
For starters, until you can get treatment, STOP going to the malls! It's like saying to an alcoholic, STOP going to the bars. Look up psychologists or treatment centers of any kind in your area and discuss your problem anonymously over the phone. Ask them for a referral to someone who can help. Show now that you are going to be proactive in taking charge of your bad behaviors before the courts have to do it for you!

My daughter has that prob.too and she is now in fostercare, but for you it would mean jail because you are of age,I would definately seek counseling so if you do get caught they will know you were trying to get help, and that you know its wrong, probably when you were young you could/nt get away with much and you feel you can now.im not sure if the judge will get copies of this counseling session or not, maybe you call call a lawyer and tell him what is going on,or your doc.maybe its a medical issue, cleptomanic.make sure you leave a trail of "hey i know i have a problem I know its wrong I'm trying to fix it"so if you do get caught the judge will look at this.good luck!as above says...dont bring a purse or anything to the store.

Shoplifting is an addiction (to adrenaline, usually) - go to a doctor
and tell them what's going on. Remember, they are required
to keep it confidential (as long as you don't tell them exactly
where you are planning on shoplifting after you leave his office).
He'll get you a recommendation for a therapist who can help you.
You can do this now, or you can get caught, get incredibly
embarassed, and do it later.
You will get caught (as will your friends), eventually.
You may end up in something like a 12-step program for
shoplifters. Hard to say what a therapist would do from here...

Talk to a conselor about your problem. It also helps to keep a journal. When you steal stuff, write down what you stole. Then try to return some of the stuff if they still have tags on them. But give the rest to Goodwill or something to get them off your chest.
