I have a Red Ear Slider, he is prob about 1 yr. old. About a week ago, I noticed a long white stringy looking thing coming out of his rear that is about 3 inches long. I know there intestines can come out and go back in, but this has happend about 4 times, maybe more and it breaks off. So I don't think a turtle has that many intestines to lose. I don't have gravel or anything small that he can eat and be trying to pass. I haven't seen him do this anymore for about a week now. His eating habits are normal, his bowels are normal and he acts just happy as can be. Anyone know exactly what this could be?

At a pet store near me they have a Sulcata and a German Tortoise. I know that they both get very large and live a long time, i'm just wondering if those would be okay for a beginner such as myself, or if i should search around for another kind of tortiose more suitable for a beginner.

On Seahorse Key in Florida, there can be hundreds of vipers in one single area! How do they thrive there with no fresh water and with few mammals to feed on? See the story and a picture of a cottonmouth snake ready to strike here:

We've had a common snapping turtle for almost 3 years now, and we have never met anyone who could tell us what sex it was. We just want to know out of curiosity. Does anyone know how you determine a snapper's sex?

I recently got 2 red- eared slider turtles and put them in an aquarium with my 5 goldfish, there are only 2 left and I have removed them now. I would just like to know if there is anything I can put in there with them that would remain safe. Please do not say frogs, I had them at one point already.

red claw crab seem

i got a crab on sunday seems like a red claw crab (sesarma bidens). its around the size of 20p.

Now i can see two in the tank - or has it molted skin - one i can see moving behind rocks - the other is in the middle of the tank and is not moving.

Now pardon my ignorance - do they replicate - or is one a skin/exo-skeletal. I've not tried to touch it to disturb it - but the moving one isnt really coming in front of the stones.

I thank everyone for their help.

We have three gopher holes in our yard, two of which have been active in the last year., the other was recently dicovered. Anyways, I want to get some pictures of them, or just see them in general, so I was thinking about throwing out some produce to bate one or two out.

Two big questions. Is this legal? They're protected, so is it okay to feed them at all?

And

What kind of produce? Carrots, celery, cabage, what?

Anyways, thank you for your time.

I've got a pond with a family of frogs in it and some tadpoles but I noticed this morning that there's a dead squashed frog outside my house and I'm worried its one of mine. Do frogs mate for life or will my widow get a new partner? Will she leave or will another come? I need an expert on froggy bereavement. I'm gutted!
