I was reading abook about them and they said that they have been known to attack and kill Humans is that true .
In one incident a tourist that was sunbathing was attacked by a komodo dragon , all that they found was his sun glasses .
I assume that he would have been wearing a swimsuit or shorts. could a Komodo dragon eat all a human , and would it eat the clothing , if so could it digest it.

I have two male red-ear sliders. They're about 9 months old and are very healthy. However, even though they are the same age, one is almost twice the size of the other and shows dominance during feeding time- he doesn't let the smaller one eat so the little one scavenges the bottom of the tank. I've started taking the larger one out of the tank when I feed the small one to give him a chance to eat (which he does vigerously). Am I doing the right thing by seperating them or is there something else I should be doing to prevent this behavior?

Ok. my friend gave m her turtle. It was kept in a small container with some water before she gave it to me. That was a couple of weeks ago.
Now, in my tank, I have a BIG tank, turtle pellets, heater, some gravel, and a filter. My turtle is very healthy and active and eats LOTS of food. But this turtle, I have to break the pellets into very small pieces.
Recently I just noticed that it's not opening its eyes. They are swollen. So I ordered eye drops. I don't know if they'll work. Also, its shell is soft. It's about as flexible as your fingernail. I know it's lacking calcium. Where can I obtain this?
Also, what kind of turtles are mine? Both are from Chinatown from NY. HELP!!!! and
Thanks!!

The last couple of days she's been taking a lot more naps during the day time than usual. Is this OK? Also, every time I'm near her tank or in the same room she "follows" me and stares at me.
I've looked at the environment as a possibility but I think it's fine. She gets 13 hours of UVB and UVA lighting, always has a basking spot at 90*, always has water at 75* except at night when it's 70*, she has a large enough basking area and swimming area, she has rocks and Anacharis in her tank and she has feeder fish (rosey reds and platys) along with 2 snails that she attacks (she 1/2 way ate one and it grew back), and every other day I give her a cricket or a meal worm, and everyday there's either some baby shrimp or krill in the tank too (the fish eat the shrimp and krill more than their fish food) which she snacks on too. So, what could be causing this abnormal behavior? I've had her since she was 1" (now 4.5") and she's never done this before.

I have just purchased my first tortoise.... I want to make sure I am doing the best for him. I have noticed when he awakes he keeps the same eye closed for a longer period before eventually opening it. And since I have gotten him 2 days ago, he has slowed down in activity and really hasn't ate. Today I fed him a dandelion and tried to give him grass, He took one bite of the dandelion thus far. I have given him water and everytime he drinks, he uses the bathroom but the stool is loose. Any suggestions on the health of my leopard tortoise named "Zamani"

i have found at walmart a 5" diameter 1" deep kiddie pool. i plan on burying it and making a 12X12 'sand box' type set up with 12ft long 1'x12' . i also found a good 400gph pump and filter. the top of the box will have a lid made of boards and 1/2 inch wire fence to keep the turtles in and raccons out. i also plan on setting the wals on bricksto discourage digging. as well as the 1/2 wire fence to be attached to the walls and go underground 8-12inches and inside towards the center about a foot so they can't dig under the bricks either. this will house a 5in res and a 4 inch eastern painted. i will also plant so lettuces and water plants and stock the kiddie pool with feeder rosies. and the bottom will have river gravel. they will only be outside june-late aug/early sept. oh and there is a shade spot both in and out of water and a hiding place made from a log. and there will be large stones to bask on.

is there a problem? or anything that i'm not seeing? ideas on how to improve it?

it turns the water brown and if little pieces break off could it hurt the turtle? and is the drift wood better or worse than having a "rock wall"?

for a cheap but not staple food, can you buy eggs (bcz they're cheap) and hard boil them for turtles. they'd be ideal on the wallet because they're so cheap but so big that they'd feed and adolecent turtle for a day. they can have the calcium from the shell (i read that one way to get it into they're diet) and the yolk and whites would be solid and edible. is there an actual negitive side effect of turtles eating eggs.
