Currently have a 23 gallon tank and may be upgrading to a 38 gallon tank. My 23 gallon tank currently has 4 turban snails,6 hermit crabs and 2 clown fish, with about 30 pounds of live rock. I have had this tank for 1 month now, and am wondering what type of fish I should get for a 23 gallon tank should I decide not to upgrade, or a 38 gallon tank if I choose to upgrade. HELP WILL GREATLY BE APPRECIATED!!!!

I am currently looking for a new filter for my African Albino Clawed Frogs. The one I am most interested in is called the repto filter by tetra and what I wanna know is, is this a submersible filter the descriptions aren't clear. And also will it disrupt the water a lot or will it stay still for the most part?

I have 4 neon tetras and 2 algae eaters. One of the neon tetras has lost some color (not as brilliant as before) and he's twitching. He twitches in one spot for awhile and swims (twitching) and goes back to twitching in one spot. My husband takes care of the tank all the time. We've had them for almost 5-6 months I believe. None of the other fish are doing this, just the one tetras.

I would like to do a small tank with just some plants, and maybe a snail and a shrimp....(its an itty bitty tank)

Which snails leave plants alone?
Do they multiply like bunnies if I have only one?
Also - do they realy crawl out of the tanks?
I've never had one - and I would like to avoid mistakes if possible
Obviously

I am a probationer still having my first SW aquarium I have had it running for 5 months, no problems. Anyways I am planning on setting up a seahorse tank (dwarfs), I am planning on using a 5 gallon hex aquarium. I have found one filtered but it is a bi-wheel and 35 gph. But I have a plain 5 hex tank and I have found many filters but cannot choose one here are the links of the filters I have found(Listed Most liked-neutral): http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+16742&pcatid=16742

I've had this green layer of..... well I don't really know. It's been there for a couple of months, and goes away with water changes, but returns within a few days. I've tried using different water (distilled and tap) and salt, and trying numerous water changes, but nothings happened. I've got a 20 gallon set up with a yellow tang, percula clown, mandarin dragonet, mushroom polyps, a condi-lactis anemone, and emerald crap, and numerous kinds of algea (all being green in color, so the basic). I seem to be getting the problem after putting PhytoPlex into the water. I have bought a different bottle of it and it still persists. I put in the same amount I have before. I put in about a half a teaspoon. I was putting in more previously (about 2 teaspoons) when I was directed to use only half a teaspoon a few months back. What could be my problem?

where exactly did they come from? i don't recall learning about goldfish that live in the lakes, oceans or ponds. if so, then can they only live in fish tanks? LOL i know, this question is funny right....but i honestly don't remember fishing for goldfish in lakes, and i don't think they live in ocean water....just curious...as i'm so bored out of my mind...

recently i've added 3 danios, so i have 7 danios.
but then the problems came, the next day i saw one of the danios out of water and already died. T_T
then the next day again... so now i covered the tank...

can danios jump? or is it because of night predator? i suspect the event happens at night, cuz none of 'em jump during the day...
or do they jump because they are courting (mating)???

p.s. how do u know when a pair of danios are ready to mate?

thanks, all answers appreciated....

Earlier this year, my 8 year old brother bought a small fish tank at a garage sale - it is about 2-21/2 feet long, 11/2 feet tall, and maybe a foot deep, at most. I am not sure exactly how much it holds, but I know that it isn't much. For Christmas, we are hoping to get him some fish for it, but we aren't sure what to buy. He really wants Oscars, but this tank is just not big enough.

So my question is - what are some small fish that make good "tank buddies", and would be easy for an 8 year old to take care of? We do not want to get goldfish - I think he would be more interested in something a bit more unique. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

So they want me to do a 25 percent water change every two weeks, I don't see how this is possible to do in under 5 hours, considering the room the tank is in is really far away from the sink.

Is it really that neccsary to change the water? Isn't their some other way to get the same effect?
