OK my guppy just died.. she was heavily pregnant. I tried to save her babies but they were to young. I think she had worms because she had like 5 red threads coming out of her well down there. (Its definately not poo, there 5 hanging out of her at once an they go back in and never go away, NOTPOO) well as has these han Now my other guppy has those threads too, she also looks like shes moulting her scales. These two females were in with two other males and 30 fry. The females are gone but the males airnt. One doesnt look to good i think hes just too old. the thing im worried about is how do i cure the worms and will my cichlid tank 180L be infected as i had the females in there earlier today and decided to put them in my smaller tank with the fry. And my major problem is i have catfish loaches and fry whitch are all hard to treat (lower doses). See my problem?

HELP how do i cure the worms? i live in Australia QLD and will my beloved cichlid tank fishes be ok?? Im scared any help!

so at my school in one of the bio rooms
they have a 40 gal talk filled with plants and guppies maybe 30 or 40 of them
they have a SMALL filter compared top the size of the tank
and a medium size bubble disk on the bottom

what i want to know is how does it stay so clean?
even the water IN the tank SMELLS clean
oh also there is some kind of plants living on top of the water too
its covering most of the surface
i asked my teacher how often he feeds them and he says maybe once a week because they feed off the plants
and i guess its true because at least once a month
there are always babies

so question is
what plants will be good with what fish?
which ones will NOT ROT or have a good chance they wont
what plants will help clean the tank
and even possibly feed the fish

i have a 30 gallon tank so what and how many can i put in this?
thanks

Or something that handles fish in major public aquariums. I would like to either gather them from the ocean, study them personally, or care for them, or all three! I would also like to work at sea world, maybe be a trainer and feeder there. What kind of job is this? What kind of schooling am I looking at? What are some jobs for this? Please help. I am currently 15, and want to know everything I can about my future career. Where would I work? What do I need to do to prepare in high school? Thank you. I guess what I am looking for is a job where I can be working with and in and around marine life. I would love a job where I could be in an ocean.

I recently bought 5 white cloud minnows - they were all set up in their tank, and they were very happy, schooling together and eating normally...in the past few days, however, they have been acting peculiar...one of the females (who looks noticeably pregnant) has been swimming around erratically, and pretty much pushing the other fish in to a corner behind some of the plants in the tank...
Usually, there are three minnows in the corner, one floating very close to the top of the tank, and the female who swims around the rest of the tank...
The female has bright colors, while the rest seem washed out and pale...also, that female is the one who is eating pretty much all of the food...
What should i do? Should the female be removed from the tank? or is this typical behavior for WCM's when one is pregnant? Please Help!!!

About 10 minutes ago I changed 30% of my 28l (7gallons) tank.

I forgot to treat the water (I'm soo annoyed with myself - never done this before in nearly a year of fish keeping :( ).

I just treated it, but will the fish be okay? Will the chlorine and chloramines have been in there long enough to kill a lot of bacteria? I do, as it happens, have some bogwood I just removed which will still have healthy bacteria on - should I reintroduce that?

Help!

I am about to stock my fish tank, as it has just completed its cycle. I tested the water and the KH is 300 or above (the test stops at 300). I know you want a high KH to keep the waters pH stable but is this too high?

My Betta babies are in danger. Two of my Betta babies died because they had a disease called "Ick" I don't know why because it froms over night. Before I went to bed last night I fed them and they all seemed fine but then when I got home from school today, I see one of them floating dead at the top of the tank with white fuzz covered around them and it's fins are all torn. I don't know if they were fighting or not. I don't think so because I don't see any signs of fighting or any actual fighting. I have this brown mold growing in my tank and I keep cleaning it but it still gorws back. Are the babies dieing off because of that? I don't know. Please help me. EXPERIENCED BETTA EXPERTS ONLY!

Some of these can be quite lenghty in the winter. especially in these parts. What on earth do we do with our 3 tropical fish tanks if this happens again? Keeping it warm and preventing the bacteria from dying in the filters?

my newly acquired Angelfish is being rather mean to my normally big macho Betta. is there a way to stop this, or a way to lessen the stress on the Betta?

A type of fish that you can just put in a fish bowl, with water and feed.

I have had a 10 gallon aquarium for 3 months. inside one betta and 2 small mollies. All was going good until last weekend. I had been doing regular 25% water changes each week but when it came time to change the filter last weekend i decided to clean out the aquarium and clean the rocks and artifical decorations inside. I siphoned half the water out and then filled up a large bucket, that i only use for these fish with aquarium water and placed the 3 fish inside. i scrubed the tank, cleaned the decorations, and then placed the water and fish in the bucket back in the tank. so this amounted to maybe a 75% water change. I used the water conditioner I always use. almost immediately my fish acted strange, swimming in strange patterns and laying on the bottom of the aquarium. I thought they were just stressed. Within 2 days noticable algae formed on the tank and rocks, far worse then ever was before, and tonight one of the Mollies died. What happend and what can I do?

I currently have a 20 gallon with 5 goldfish.
1 Black and Gold Oranda(Maurice)
1 Calico Shubunkin(Wrangler)
1 Black Comet(Leo)
1 Orange Comet- Long tail(Noena)
1 Orange Comet- Short tail(Sharky)
They are all about 2.5 to 3 inches long now.

My Comets will be pond fish and the fancy goldfish will stay in my tank for the spring, fall and winter, and spend summers in the pond.

I currently have no heater in their tank, and I was wondering what kind of pleco I could keep in the tank in the spring, fall and winter, but also keep him/her in my pond in the summer.

Please don't tell me about goldfish requirements, I am well aware and I have researched for about 3 months before I got my first goldfish. (comets)

I have a large vase and i have nothing to use it for. My niece suggested putting a betta in it. But i have not had any experience with betta fish before. Only goldfish and other tropical fish. The vase is pretty big, 45 cm tall with a 30 cm diameter. The vase is not a fish bowl it is a cylinder shape similar to this http://www.michaelcfina.com/images/products/full/GLLENOLADOG003.jpg but much bigger of course and without the spot things. Would it be suitable for a betta or is it cruel? Also should i put an air stone in it for more oxygen or does it not need one?

I have been putting salt in my aquarium twice daily at 1 TBSP per gallon as it says to on the label, so how long will it take to start improving my fishes fins, and how long will it take for the fins to regrow where the bacteria has infected them?

I bought a black moore goldfish and fiddler crab to put on my new 10 gallon tank, I left like 3 inches of water out and have a ladder for her to stand on, but she can't figure out the ladder and keeps climbing up the silicon seals, I am scared she''l escape out the hole around the filter. I have never owned a fiddler crab before and the lady at the pet store was being mean to me and only told me they needed to be out of the water sometimes... What do I do?

I have a tank of tropical fish. 2 tiger barbs, 2 green tiger barbs, 2 albino barbs, 1 black rainbow shark, 1 pink shark, 1 red tail shark.

All the sharks look fine, but some barbs are having some problems. They are having whites dots on fins and tails. But they still swimming around.

I have plenty of plants in the tank. Air pump, Filter all working good. My area is really dry, so I need to constantly adding new water into the tank, like every second. I fill up with tab water into two big bowls. Then I put two drops of "Aqua Plus Tap Water conditioner" and one drop of "Plan GRO" into each bowl, then let them sit for two days before I dump them in.

Plus, I have two big golden snails eating garbage in the tank. This is my first time having fish, I've been having these fish for about 1 month, never wash the tank and dont know how to. I just wipe out those dirt on the edge of the tank when the water level goes down.

I need help, please !!! Why are there white dots, they look terrible.
