Depends on the duration and how many fish you have. It could be OK for anywhere from a few hours for a crowded tank to a few days for a very sparsely populated one.

There are some disease treatments that recommend that you stop using activated charcoal (because it will remove the medication), but you can run plain "floss" filtration and just leave the activated charcoal out.

If your fish tank is very crowded , you should turn on the filter very often to prevent sickness. But if your tank is big and you have a few fishes , you can off the filter for maybe a few hours . you should on the filter at night too.

That depends on how often you change the water, how much of it you change at a time, how hardy the fish are, how large the area of the surface of your tank is (the bigger the surface area, the more easily oxygen dissolves in the water to let the fish breath) and what kind of biological load your fish are putting on the tank (in other words, how much waste your fish generate and how much oxygen they consume compared to how big the tank is). 100 years ago, aquarists who kept goldfish got along just fine long before air pumps and mechanical filters were invented, but they either kept their fish in a man-made pond or did partial water changes every single DAY to keep the tank water sufficiently clean and aerated.

As everyone said, depends on load, livestock, fresh/marine, how long.. What wasn't mentioned is that if the filter is off for a while (or one of your filters) and you turn it back on, the water that comes out could be toxic to your fish...

Some fish, like plecos, will be fine. They are able to swim up to the top and get a gulp of air. The more common fish, however, will not survive for a long period of time. Keep your filter on.

depends what kind of fish and how many gallons, and how long the filter will be off.
becuase if its like one fish in a 5 gallon tank it will have enough oxygen in the water for a while but it all depends on the fish and etc.

i wouldnt recomend keeping it off for a long time the fishy will suffocate or get ill.

The fish will be OK for quite a while, the bacteria that consume the ammonia and Nitrites will begin to die in about two hours, and they will all be dead in 24 hours. It will take some time longer for the fish to die of ammonia poisoning, but eventually they will.

it depends on how long the filter is off for, and the type of fish

Yes, unless you properly keep the tank in a clean condition.
My fish died...because of the filter not being able to function right.

Do not make the same mistake as me!
Keep it on :]
