if you order fish from the internet how do they get to you

They're put into bags with a mild sedative to keep them inactive (they don't use as much oxygen this way) and are packed into styrofoam boxes. If necessary, a heat pack (good for several hours) is taped to the top of the inside of the box. Unless you happen to live very near the place you purchase from, the fish are generally shipped by air freight (on airliners). Depending on the arrangements between you and where you buy, they can be picked up by you at the freight terminal at the airport, or they can be shipped directly to you from the airport by UPS or Fed Ex (typically).

A good company will arrange to phone or email you before they're shipped, so you can make arrangements to pick them up (or be at home) on the day they arrive.

Usually they come overnight in large plastic bags in sterofoam containers. When you get the home you must leave then in the bags for 15 minutes. do not put any of the water from the bag in your aquarium if you have other fish in there.
