I have a 5 gal tank with 3 black skirts, 3 danios, 2 neon tetras, and 2 corys, i know this is way too much and have to get rid of a few, please give recommendations on what to get rid of, not because of how they look, but what is good for the tank.

A 5 gallon tank is too small for even one of those fish. You should return them all to a local store for credit or get a much larger tank. Tetras (black skirt, neons, and all others) and cory cats need at least 30 gallons, danios, if they're not the giant type, need 10. What is good for that tank is a betta and some snails or shrimp plus plants. Nothing else should be put in less than 10 and most need 30 or more.

Move the Black skirts, they will be creating the largest bio-load.
However, if you want to do extra maintenance (like maybe doing two water changes a week), you might be able to keep them all alive. It's just that you will have "zero margin of error",one slip up and some of them will die.
You would not have to do large water changes (25% would be plenty) just make sure to siphon out all of the "stuff" that you can while removing no more than 25% of the water. The replacement water should be de-chlorinated and very close to the same temperature as the water in the tank. This is because the bacteria that support the "Nitrogen Cycle" in the tank are very sensitive to temperature and water chemistry changes.

Your best option is to get rid of the tiny tank. All of your fish are shoaling fish. They all need to be kept in larger groups for their health and well being. The best thing you can do for your tank is to upgrade to a 20 gallon and fill out the partial schools.

i would get rid of the black skirt tetras. not that i don't like them, but they are a bit bigger than your other fish. i'd also get rid of the cory-cats.

honestly, i agree with the previous statement to get a bigger tank period. neon tetras are really only happy in big schools (they live like that in the wild)

good luck though!

Since they're already in your tank, you can choose the option of not removing them by doing more frequent water change. I don't know what a skirt(?guppy??) is but the other 7 fishes aren't that heavy eaters therefore their bio-load should be managable.

btw before anyone gives me the thumbs down please justify why. If you don't, the asker would not learn from your opinion. I would also sincerely and objectively like to know your point of view :). We're all here to learn.
