Get about 4 more black skirt tetras that you finish off the schooling effect of them, which will also cut back on finnipping
as for the betta, of course you can add them to your setup

Actually you can either put 1 male betta
OR
up to 5 female bettas with the fish you already have
I would also add at least 5 cory cats
or
4 kuhli loaches to your tank

And people, stop saying bettas are aggressive and don't go along with any other fish, because that's absolutely not true

I have 5 female bettas with cory's and platies
I also have 1 male with a cory and a couple of platies

Hope that helps
Good luck

You need to say how many fish are in that small tank as if you have several of each it is probably already overstocked. The tetras are less likely to be aggressive when they are in a large enough tank: 30 gallons minimum for all tetras. You should also find out if the tank is 20 or 25, which I suspect is what you meant. Most are 20, unless you are converting from one that was built to metric specs.

Yes, that should be fine. There is a chance the betta and black skirt tetras would nip at each other a little bit but I doubt it would be a problem, especially if you have a full school of tetras. You would need to add a heater if you don't already have one.

EDIT - You will want to raise the temperature of your tank to the high 70s for the fish you have. Good luck!

I have had the less aggressive personality female bettas in a similar kind of tank situation. It is best if you have at least four female bettas. NO MALES especially if you have females in there. PS, that person whose friend has a BETTA WITH A BLACK MOORE is clueless.. poor fish!! Don't combine warm water small fish like bettas with big coldwater fish like goldfish!!!

I wouldn't put a betta with black skirt tetras. They are probably one of the most well know fin nipper from the tetra family. I would just take out the black skirt tetras, then your all set for your bettas. Also, what was the "other tropical fish" that you were talking about?

Unless that those fish are peaceful, then you can't keep a betta

You don't know if your tank has a filter? Your already pretty loaded with fish for that size tank and a betta is a rather large fish. Do you have heat in the tank? Betta's don't like cold water at all.

Females bettas would be fine in there if you had less fish.
But if you keep female bettas, keep atleast 3. This will prevent bullying and such. It will also insure their hapiness.

As for males, it depends on the fish. If you give him a little cave he might not pester the other fish, and vice versa.

well first of all you dont know if your tank is 20 or 5 gal.? and your not positive that your tank has a filter or oxygen regulator? i would consider doing more research on maintaning an aquarium first of all. betas can be highly agressive with their own species. males especially. my friend has a beta with a black moor fish, and they get along just fine, but the beta bullies the other fish for all the food when fed. i would not reccomend putting betas with other fish, but that is totally up to you. i hope this helped.

I would not reccomend putting a Betta fish w/any others. They are very aggressive. Have you noticed they always have them separate where you purchase them? Even from each other. They are beautiful tho and do very well in a fish bowl.
