It can take any fish up to 10 days to get used to their new environment, which means some of them won't eat for the first week, sometimes longer

It's also very important that he has the right temperature, which should be around 78-82 degrees at all times

Try feeding him different foods
mine will only eat either flakes or dried bloodworms, they hate the pellets

Hope that helps
Good luck

I've had betas before and they are really cool. First of all why don't you try letting him go another few days without eating, no, this is not harmful to the fish. Fish can go up to 2 weeks without feeding, just don't make it a regular habit, you got the fish and it needs to feed just enough to keep it fit and healthy. Let it go a few days then offer it a tiny chuck of bloodworms right in front of it, you don't want to scare it so use clean blunt tweezers. The betas do eat meat, they are aggressive fish, unless they are female, I'm assuming you have a male. Offer it the bloodworms and make sure the water is around 70 degrees, the warmer the water the hungrier the fish. Do not overheat your tank! I cannot stress this enough. If no improvement shows call the store in which you bought it and tell them about the problem.

I have two male Betta's. Across the room from each other of course. But both will only eat freeze dried BloodWorms. I have wasted so much money trying to get them to eat different foods. As long as they like the freeze dried BloodWorms I know they will eat and are happy. My point is you need to find out what he likes to eat. Have you tried different foods for him? If I were you I would. Good luck:)

Call the store where you got him and ask what they were feeding him.

If you feed him the same thing they were, and he still doesn't eat,try blood worms.I have a Beta, and he will only eat blood worms.Beta can be very picky eaters.

Betta's seem to get picky when you only feed them one thing.

I give mine a variety. So he eats flake food, Betta pellets, blood worms, and brine shrimp.
