I've had my Siamese Fighter for nearly a week, and for the first few days he was fine and pretty active (was feeding him on dry flakes). Over the weekend I've fed him on frozen bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp (he's also had a tiny amount of crushed peas. He loved the peas and the worms (not the shrimp though). Now though - he's hiding all the time at the bottom/rear of the tank - what have I done wrong - what's happening to him. Please help, as I'm a total novice @ this. Thanks guys.

Ok so i just bought a really pretty (what they called) Marble Knife fish. It kinda looks i guess like a clown knife fish but it is all black. And has not been agressive towards anything. But i am not sure what to feed it. I currently put flakes, pellets, frozen krill, and frozen blood worms in my tank and i do not think he is eating.

Any one know there diet and what i should try or something??

ok my GF is a Frog nut, so i find my self with 5 frogs and a toad in a fish tank in my room. i have build a stand in the tank that is covered in moss and there is about 6 inches of water in the tank. the problem seems to be that the Toad is always on land therefor he seems to get most of the bugs that go in. the frogs seem to spend most of their time in the water so im not sure that they are getting enough to eat. anyone have any ideas on how to encourage them to spend some more time on land?

I just got 3 silver dollar fish in a 30 gallon tank with 3 zebra danios. I think that one of the silver dollar might have ick. I have read that you can add salt to treat ick, except to scaleless fish. Do silver dollar fish tolerate salt?

Would it be ok to give this to my snails in a tank where a Betta lives?

It contains the following:

Granite Grit, Oyster Shell, Calcium Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Salt, Charcoal, Mineral Oil, Orange Oil, Zinc Oxide, Manganous Oxide, Ferrous Carbonate, Copper Oxide, Calcium Iodate, and Cobalt Carbonate.

I work at a place that sells fish and was called over to check on a tank that a customer had told me was infected with ick. The tank looked clean so I told her it was alright. She said to look at the other side of a silver dollars in the tank, and I noticed a large .. parasite looking creature attached to the fish. I took the fish out and took it to my manager -- whom told me to kill the fish. Instead, I pried the creature off and put it in one container, and kept the fish in another in case it was infected with anything. I decided to do research to see what it was (I'm sure it came in with our shipment).. but came up with nothing.

It was about 1 inch, flat with a leaf shaped back, light green with one dark stripe going down the middle of his back and a few going the other way as well. It had legs and pinchers, and after it was detached swam upside-down most the time, with it's legs in the air. I didn't see a separate head, but it had something that resembled a tail. Ideas?

I grew interest in Betta fish and have a couple of questions.

Is it possible to make the Betta Fish's Fins grow and expand on Color?

Is a filter necessary for them?

Are they more Inactive or Active?

What stores can sell bright, big, and colorful fish?

Thanks :P

I have a betta fish, and for the time being, I am keeping his tank under a lamp to keep the water warm until I am able to get a bigger tank for him with a heater. When I have the lamp on, the fins look great, but when I turned off the lamp the other day to move it, when he spread his fins out, they looked thinner and like they're losing their color.
Any suggestions/ guidance?
Is this normal?

Hi!

so here i have my 10 g one that im going to set up again after a time of not using it because having turtles in it is absolutely tiring, i plan on setting it up to have 2 or 3 goldfish, since they are cold water fish and hence that i dont think a heater is critical for them, but im no expert

i know that i have to wash in hot water the gravel, rocks and stuff that was as decoration (well im planning on buying more gravel), but im also planning that instead of using tap water i use normal drinking water

since using tapwater lead to the water gradually decreasing and leaving back a grayish stain
i just need some tips
(oh btw, i use one of those Aqua Tech 5-15 g. filter)

How do I remove those grayish stains off the acrylic?
(they seem to disappear with water, but they come back)
How do I remove some stains that appear in the filter cover thingy that i suspect are a kind of fungus?
R there any benefits in using normal drinking water instead of tap water?

thx every1!

why do people feel the need to say betta fish? is there another betta? like betta cats? I just don't understand it, people don't say zebra danio fish... so why the need to add fish on the end of betta? if they feel the need to specify why not betta splenden?

yeah, I'm bored and sick, and this question has been bugging me for a while. shed some light on the issue at hand for me?

My nitrite levels have been high. I keep one betta per 3 gallon tank and I have two betta. They are in a tank that has a filter and activated carbon that came with the tank. Both tanks have a higher than normal nitrite level. I have taken some action to bring the level down. But, for the future, should I get additional filtration. For instance, I have seen form mats or something in the store that goes under the gravel. Please advise.

ok...yesterday, all my 7 fish(4 goldfish, 2 blackmoors and 1 angelfish) were doing really well since the time i bought them.which is around 3 months now.
then yesterday, i called someone from the fish store for aquarium maintainance.he came in the morning and cleaned the tank well, changed the water and added medicine.then, after a few hours, i noticed one of my goldfish was extemely weak.the rest of them were also very lathargic and none of them except the angelfish were behaving normally.slowly, 2 goldfish and 2 blackmoors died.the remaining 2 goldfish which are alive seem extremely weak.the goldfish didnt eat anything today..(usually, this one jumps up to eat when food is given).its obvious that they are going to die and i cant do anything about it.but its clearly the fault of this guy from the fish store.what should i do about it?? i want justice for this.
it pains me to see the fish suffer like this...
i used very clean aquagaurd water.

I placed him in a tub of warm water with 2.5 cups of warm water and 1 cup of gin. At first he jumped a bit, i assume it stung a bit because he had a really bad flesh eating ick that wasn't going away. As his breathing started to decline blood started flowing out of his gills! I didn't read anything about blood and now I fear that I hurt this poor fish... Can anyone tell me what happened or what it might have experienced? Blood started flowing about 10 seconds after he went in the solution... Of course once I started I stayed the course and once his respiration seemed to stop I placed the whole tub int the freezer to make sure he passed.
