6 inches is correct, I don't know what the second person is talking about... I had a Redtail Shark that was 2 inches when I got him, and after 3 months, he was 6 inches long. Maybe the second answerer kept his fish in very poor conditions or did not balance their diet, but that doesn't sound like the case. Maybe that person gets his fish from stores that get their fish from people that keep poor quality fish... because Redtail Sharks generally live 10 years, not 5, and can live up to 15.

I got two of them at pet Co the say they get 4 in max. Well both of mine or 6 in n still growing. I have fifty five gallon tank. Cichlid's 4 of them and 3 sharks.

Above says 6 inches. this is incorrect as red tail sharks grow a maximum of five but rarely. Average max size is 4.5 inches.

No, the first answer is correct they get to about 17cm which is 6.6 inches.
