Hi Dawn, I'm sorry to hear about your Goldfish dying-the problem is they need a lot more care than most people think although it is not your fault it died. The attached links tell you all you need to know about setting up a new tank for your surviving Goldfish. As they need lots of room I would advise you not to get any more just yet but get the one you have nicely settled in a tank, then introduce one or two more after several weeks depending on how big a tank you get.

Plan on getting at least a 20 gallon, filtered tank with a lid-these fish grow very large & live for many years when properly housed.

You are probably going to try and keep it in a bowl, right? WELL DON'T! Fish do not do well in bowls, and Goldfish get up to 8 inches long, way to big for even a 10 gallon tank. Go buy a 20 gallon tank, get a filter and some decorations. Until you get this set up, don't buy any more fish (the one you have will be fine in a bowl for a little while). Get your tank, put it where you want it, wash the gravel to remove dust, put the gravel in the tank, fill the tank with water, add dechlorinating chemicals and run the filter over night, put you fish in, then you can go put all the others in too!.

IMO goldfish belong in ponds they do get 10-14 inches and can live about 20 years. They are not a good pet for a bowl, get a betta if you want a fish in a bowl. Goldfish are very dirty fish and destroy the water quality in a tank or bowl very quickly. If you decide to keep it in a bowl you will have to do frequent water changes (make sure you use water dechlorinator Ex. Seachem Prime) about every other day if you have more than one in a bowl good luck on that. Some people do get lucky.

ok did the dying goldfish not put up redflags??? first you need to learn!!! about goldfish before you kill them all!!!! one of the most common problems is over feed ing only feed as much as the fish will eat in 5 minutes or so, next is no circulation, make sure you have a bubbler or filter or something so the fish have fresh oxygen in the water

good luck....
