I keep a a trio of guppies (2 females and 1 male) in a 10 gallon tank. Recently I noticed all of them rubbing against the gravel at the bottom of the tank but decided to wait before acting, one of the females also developed white spots on her fins and body, so I segregated her and began treating for Ich. Neither of the other two have developed any white spots, though both are swimming very rapidily from time to time. Both females appear to be pregnant although the one in segregation is at very early stages. As I haven't got any Java moss or hiding places in the tank, would it be safe to move the other pregnant female, who by now is very squared and has a large and dark gravid spot into segregation? Also it's been 3 days since the other female began showing white spots, if none of the other fish have yet are they free of ich? And is the tank clear if I moved the female as soon as I seen the white spots? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I was thinking this for a 30 gallon tank.

3 to 5 turquoise danios 2" each
1 or 2 guppies 2 - 2 1/2" each
1 Mickey mouse platy 2" each
5 to 15 tetras 2 - 3" each
2 to 5 glass catfish 6" or less each
1 to 3 african drawf frogs 1 1/2" each

and acouple of live & fake plants with gravel at the bottom, some rocks and small plant pots for hiding.

What else (if it's not over crowded) can I add???
What are some good slow growing plants (Java Fern) to add???

Ever since I took that parasite out of my tank yesterday. My fish all have been sitting on the gravel... They dont look injured or sick, but they never used to just sit either! Did I catch the parasite too late?

I know plenty of other fish that are as beautiful, as bettas, like guppies, and tetras. Fish like guppies and tetras, are as easy to care for.

I have a single male betta fish in a 1/2 gallon tank. On the surface of the water (along the rim of the water surface) are small bubbles. Many of them seem to be clumped together. Do you know what this about?

Which snails survive best in a goldfish tank that is kept at 72 degrees fahrenheit/ 22 degrees celsius?

Does any one know if aquarium salt, ammonia, or anything else that will kill a freshwater snail?

Also what about a snail for a betta tank kept at 78 degrees fahrenheit/ 26 degrees celsius that does not get too big?

I have freshwater fish, guppies. This is a brand new tank due to the last set dying because,(the pet store said), the tank was too small. Now I have a 10 gallon tank and every couple of days, I find a dead fish. I keep the temp. between 78 and 80 degrees. I am careful about how much I feed them. I used distilled water when I started the tank. I know it is pass the new tank stage. I am just lost as to what is killing them. If anyone can help me figure this out, please email me. The tank was a birthday gift for my son for his birthday, he earned it by A, B honor roll and I don't want him to come home to all his fish being dead again.
Any help would be just wonderful, Thanks! Oh and the PH is correct too.

My other half recently bought a fish tank for us... We have several species of fish in there. I have a few questions...

our tank is 32" long, 12" wide, 15" tall
We have a female swordtail and a male swordtail.
1 Ruby shark.
about 10 male guppies.
an upside down catfish
a corydorus catfish
about 8 neon tetra
about 12 harlequins
5 danios

Yesterday two male guppies would not leave the female swordtail alone... kept following her... is it possible to breed to types of fish...

another question is how long is a female fish (any species)pregnant for

are babies likely to live within our tank if we do not seperate them... we have many many many plants and a couple rocks...

any other interesting facts about these specific fish would be most kind

I am removing my rocks and replacing with sand. Im wuestioning this because Im unsure of how to clean it? Do I just use my rock syphon to clean the sand? Also Im thinking about leaving a layer of the rock under the sand for my live plants, is this a good idea?

Thanks!

I have 1 fantail-goldfish, 1 subuschkisn. they are in the gold fish family. Then I have 1 molly and 1 sword-tail fish. The rest are community, and all of the fish listed stay togather in a 55 gallon tank. I also have a 10 gallon tank with two RED OSCAR'S inside of it, let me know if any of the fish can go with them as well, or any communite fish. I have almost all of them I think, or at-least the most popular one's. (should I get a 29 gallon tank for the mis-matched fish?)

I am only 13 and need a fish or two that is easy to take care of. I'm getting one of those little tanks so my fish can stay in my room. Also, i'm not quite sure how to proplely take care of the tank. I dont want really big fish, but i dont want really small ones either. Give fish suggestions and list the steps to get the tank ready and how to take care of ot later on. Thanks so much!!

I have a male betta. He recently underwent a bit of stress, moving from a 10 gallon tank to a bowl to a 5 gallon tank. (The bowl was while he was in transition). He is very active in his new tank but seems to be fanning his gills a lot. Also, there are a lot of bubbles gathered on top of the water. I've read that betta sometimes make bubblenests but I thought it was only when they are breeding. So is it a bubblenest or do bettas just always leave air bubbles? And is he just fanning because of the stress of moving of could something be wrong?

I just transplanted my two dwarf puffers from my 28 gallon full of community fish (zebra danios, catfish and mickey platies) to their own tank -- a ten gallon tank. I syphoned 6 gallons from the 28 gallon tank, added 3 gallons of spring water, 1 hornwort plant, 2 frill plants, 2 cups of gravel substrate from the 28 gallon with new gravel that I pre-rinsed and soaked.

So far they seem to be faring well. But are two enough for the 10 gallon? I'd like to get 2 more but worry that won't be enough "territory" for them.

Are 4 dwarf puffers going to be overcrowed in a 10 gallon tank that's somewhat planted?

Oh. And I feed them bloodworms and give them treats of brine shrimp and tubifex worms as treats. The black ramshorn snails I get from Petsmart and bloodworms have been their staple diet in the previous 28 gallon community tank, that I plan to continue in the 10 gallon tank.
