Today I got 4 Fancy Tailed Guppies and all they do is hang around the top of the tank! I have 3 Angel Fish and 1 small Cat Fish in the tank with them. I have a bubbler, "Penguin" Filter, and the tank size is 22.5 gallon. Are they just hungry or are they scared of the fish at the bottom of the tank?

I have a fish tank that I am trying to kill the algae in. I have worked on the lighting and bought an algae destroyer that says it is used with live plants and fish. Seems to be safe except for use with shell fish which we dont have. Is it safe to the other fish? I heard after I put it in it could be dangerous to them.

Hi all,
I've been given some thought of getting my own tropical fish tank..I am not an expert but did have a 20 gallon tank growing up..so I have some experience.
I live in a small studio apartment so I thought a 20 gallon tank would be out of the question..I didn't want a plain gold fish tank either..
I looked at the retail stores and was amazed that they sell those desktop versions..the 5 gallon tanks..but they seemed kid oriented and I am not sure of their quality??/
just wondering if anyone here had any experience with them..do you think they would be too small..really not worth my time/money..are they just crap??
should I just get a standard 10 gallon instead
it isn't like I want a billion fish
just a couple..perhaps 4..

Just bought a comet goldfish 2 days ago. Her tank mate has already died. She is floating near the bottom and hiding under the plants and castle. She is constantly twitching her pectoral, dorsal and tail fins. I've checked the water and the pH and ammonia is normal. What is wrong with her?? How can I fix it??

I changed close to 80% of the water last night, I know, I know, I'm stupid... my betta is now at the bottom of his tank not moving , he comes up just to breathe. Is this ammonia poisoning? and if it is how can I help him before it's too late?

I wouldn't be stocking it with koi or goldfish or anything, amazingly. I will be stocking it with amazonian fish! We are building it 6inches into the ground, and three feet above ground. Three sides witll be covered by walls and supported with brick. The front will be plexiglass supported by brick stablizers. We figured that we would just make a very large tank out of plexiglass, stick it all together, build the walls around it, and fill with water, install the gigantor filters lol(a lot of steps are missing, I know lol).

My question is if I do this, would my fish be encouraged to spawn since they would have 1,832gallons of water to do so? I plan on silver dollars, 3 pacu(or one, not sure because they are fin-nippers), many neon tetras, some rainbow sharks, and other amazon species that will do well in such a large community tank lol

If you have suggestions on amazon species, tell me. They are my fav. fish(besides chilchids). Also, please answer my Q.

My Betta is sick so I have been reading about betta diseases and I can't find information on thermal shock and septic shock. What's the difference and how do you know if your fish has any of those conditions? how do they react?.

The question pretty much is explained in the title. I'm treating a betta in a 2.5 gallon tank. I removed his live plants and his filter but am leaving the bubble stone in. I'm using Coppersafe to treat velvet and Melafix for fin rot/any secondary infections.

I have quite a few fry, all almost a month old. They are starting to show some black spots, but I'm wondering when their colors will first start to show up.

I have a 36" marine tank, it is about 6 weeks old. I have a yellow tang, 2 tomato clowns, a long nosed hawk, a cow fish, a cleaner shrimp, a decorater crab and a red leg hermit crab. I also have 2 soft corals. I use a skimmer, a hagen external pump, 2 powerheads and T5 lighting 99 watt white and 21 watt blue. the water tests as near perfect every time using 3 or 4 different testing kits. Anyway, my yellow tang is acting very strange. It has stopped swimming and lays on the bottom of the tank, if you touch it with the net, it wakes up and tries to swim, but soon sinks. It looks ok, no colour change, no spots or anything that looks suspicious. can anyone suggest anything please. p.s. I don't have a quaranteen tank yet. BTW, the last fish I put in was the cowfish. and all the rest of the fish are great.

I have two betta fish and I keep them in the same tank but I have a shield in the middle so they can't fight. I keep a lid on top and I keep the tank on my dresser. I normally have stuff on two sides of it. I want to know if they will jump out. I have heard of some types of fish jumping out.
