remember the fish have to be reef and shrimp safe. I also want to understock the tank so that the maintence isn't as hard. I have 70 pounds of live sand and 10 pounds of live rock(will stock to 40-70). just want some good ideas.

I like smaller fish & inverts, so I'll go that direction (and better for your tank shape, too).

A pair of skunk clowns (anemone optional, depending on the lighting) OR a trio of green reef chromis

A pair of Bangaii cardinals

A longnose hawkfish (okay with larger shrimp like peppermints, cleaners; will eat tiny shrimp on live rock)

A yellow clown goby OR a canary blenny

A snail assortment (nerite, margarite, cerith, trochus, and nassarius snails, an emerald crab, a pair of peppermint shrimp (good Aiptaisia control for the live rock), some blue-legged and scarlet reef hermit crabs, a brittlestar

Tangs are always a nice addition but be careful on which ones you pick because there are some species that get very big and will take up your whole aquarium. yellow tangs are gorgeous, clown fish, it is awesome if you have an anenome so you can see the bond between a clownfish and it's anenome.

I would put in a few green chromis; they'd swim around in groups and would look very nice (also very peaceful in contrary to its other damsel species). I also like the yellow watchman +pistol shrimp pair- really fun watching them dig and hide and help each other out.

sea horses, yellow tangs(my fav species), clowns, gobies, SALT WATER hermit crabs(not land ones!).

Not too sharp on my salt water fish, but thats what I would put in a reef tank. All my fav. species. lol

i wish I could make a salt water tank :(

if you wanna play it safe stick with clowns and tangs, since you have live rock you should also consider some seahorses. they are pretty hardy and breed quickly. depending on how adventurous you are your possibilities are endless
