I have an outside water tank that I keep 3 normal goldfish in at the mo, they love it, will the two fancy goldfish be ok outside? One is the boggley eye type and one has a large belly (sorry about the lack of technical language!)

Male betta 5 gallon tank. Very active, flaring, bubble nests, eating regularly. Was changing his water today when I took him out of the tank and placed him in a spare container. I placed a lid on top of the container but left a lil space for air to move in. He jumped out from that place while i was cleaning the tank decorations. I didn't realize it, I didn't hear any noise. It just struck me that I should check on him and when I did he was lying on the floor move slightly. I immediately picked him up and put him back in the container. I put the water in the tank (which i had kept to stand overnight) and started the oxygen pump and added the de chlorinator.I put him in the tank and started the light for some warmth.Heis moving I can see he is breathing but not swimming. His tail fin has torn in some places and he is missing one of the fins which lie on the either sides of his face. He had come up for air just once and swam vigourously.PLEASE PLEASE help me!!!!!

Ive heard male bettas are very territoral, but Ive also heard they can be paired with guppies? The thing is Ive already taken him out of my tank once as soon as I seen my tuxedo fish was missing a piece of back fin and I noticed the betta chasing him round a bit. My boyfriend put him back in last night againest my arguments and this morning I noticed a piece of the guppie's fin and a piece of the goldfish's fin missing...That leaves only like 3 fish that havent gotten bitten by him yet. My question is...will he eventually kill these fish...IF I were to leave him in the tank or if my boyfriedn AGAIN puts him back in the tank

My new angel fish has puffy white growths on his fins...looks like cotton. After reading up I decided this is some sort of fungus. Nothing I am reading makes this sound serious or fatal but he doesn't look well. He seems listless. I am treating the aquarium with Maroxy.
Since adding the new fish, I have tested the water and do have higher levels of Nitrate...but not dangerously high (10ppm). I am doing 20% water changes every 3 days or so. But still I have lost one angel fish and a guppy. I bought Angels at a big chain pet store and suspect they were not well when I got them. Is there anything else I can do for this guy?

Ok, well my fish have ick. I have a 55 gallon tank and about 18 fish in the tank (had more but some have died). I have done 2 treatments and I see no improvement... I am going to get a water sample today when the pet store opens... I was wondering, I have picked up a quick cure and could it be that it is not a very good product? Also I have heard many different things, some say do a water change, some say no water change, it will stress the fish out more, just change the filter, I have read some quetions on line here, but I want to do everything right.. Another things, if it is over crowding that is the problem, does that mean I have to get rid of some of my fish. Also, a pet store person told me that snails can carry the ick parasite on them and there is nothing you can do and that I should get rid of the snail.. Sorry, about all the questions.. I feel so bad for my fish.. I can tell they itch, I just want to take them out and wash them off and scratch them! Any advice would be great!

i have a 24gallon tank. i have 1 ballon mollie, 1 male betta, 1 dwarf gourami, 2 blue platys, 1 red platy, 3 neons, 2 kuhli loaches and a leopard plec. i also have 7 platy fry that are 3days old in a hatcher in my tank. most of my fish (apart from the fry) have had ick/ich! but i have that under control now (FINALLY)!!! anyway i've now come across a new problem! this morning when i was doing my daily check on them
i found one tiny little white wormey thing wriggling on the glass in with my fry!!! what is it? why is it in my tank?? and how did it get there?? will they harm my fish/fry?? it seems like since setting my tank up 5weeks ago i've had nothing but problems! first my fish got ick/ich. then several died, then i discovered snails, now i have this problem. i feel ive done everything that i was meant to do. i allowed the tank to cycle before putting fish in. i do water changes when im meant to. i dont believe my tank it over crowed. is this all part of fish keeping? or am i doing

I recently I bought a 29g. tank ( I know its small but I live in the 2nd floor apt. and my landlord won't let me have any bigger ). I already have everything set up (tank, stand, substrate, lighting, salt, filtration, heaters, hydrometer etc.) and I was wondering, I'm thinking about getting a couple clowns, a couple green damsels, and a chocolate chip (?) starfish... I think thats the name of it, I looked it up on google images and it looks like the same fish as the one at the pet store. Would all of these fish be compatible together? And the only reason I say green damsels is because the guy at the local pet store told me the green damsels are less aggresive than others, is this true or is he just trying to get a easier sale out of me? I have let my tank filter for 8 days and I'm going to a few pet stores tomorrow so I need an answer asap.

also... in the future I'm considering getting a couple yellow tangs, how many would be appropriate to put in a 29g if theyre by themselves?

i recently acquired some fish from moving room mates. there are 7 neon tetras, 2 comets, and 5 baby guppies (about a month old). my own creatures are a male beta and a female african dwarf frog. can any of these fish be tank mates?

*note: i'd originally put the beta in the tank with the comets and tetras as i'd read they could be tank mates with non-aggresive fish (& no other male beta). when i did this he promptly attacked and killed a tetra. i'm not sure if this was a random act of violence due to the aggrivation of moving him or if his personal preferance is just too anal to have tank friends. (and i haven't had time to re-test his compatibility by placing him in the tank in a baggie to see his reaction.)
Any fish advice on this situation would be great as i'm feeling a little overwhelmed!
Thanks!

I saw one for sale that they said they only used for a few months. Is it a bad idea to buy used? My boyfriend wants a tank, but I don't want to spend too much money on it right now. But we argue about if a used one would cost more in the long run if it kills the fish.

Any input?

I have two clown fish, one that is almost dead from what I believe is brooklenna protozoa, and the other is just coming down with it. What can I do to help these fish? I have a feather duster, a peppermint shrimp, two percula clowns (with the disease), and one condi-lactin anemone. Can I remove this bacteria from my tank without harming any of my invertabrates or spending a fortune on supplies to help the fish?

i'm running two filters in my 10 gallon tank, an Elite Hush 10 and Aquaclear 20 to make the water super clean for my convict cichlid. My tank is about 4 weeks into the cycling period. Lately I've been noticing tiny minute bubbles coming from where the filter's flow re-enters the tank. these bubbles eventually rise up to the top and 'stick' to the top of the surface. The top of the water looks like there is salt floating at the top, except with tiny minute bubbles.

I read that is normal to have bubbles coming from the filters, but i'm not sure about the tiny minute bubbles. Could they be lethal to my fish? If so, how do i remedy the problem?

I have two clowns, and I had previously asked a question on if one was about to die. One of my clowns barely moves, and sits on the bottom and I think he's about to die. He has like white little blotches on the top of is head, but you cannot notice them unless you look for them ( it could just be my imagination or something). He has also lost some coloring. He seems to have a coat on him, but I'm not sure if this is his slime coat from my anemone (I have a condi-lactin). Could my anemone be causing him to be sick like this? I would love to save this fish, so is there any medications that help fungal diseases that do not harm invertabrates, or other fish? I'm not completely sure if this is the problem, so if I use this med will it hurt the fish if they don't have the specified disease? I really need help ASAP so I can save this fish! PLEASE HELP!!!

So I took some fish tank water up to the local PetSmart to have it tested, and my Nitrite and Nitrate levels were off the charts. So I did a water change and back about 36 hours later, and it was still higher than their test strips charts would go. They use the test strips that you dip in the water.

So I bought a dropper style test to do at home, as I figured I'd be in for a series of water changes, but when I tested it with the drops everything came out normal? My levels weren't 0 (my tank hasn't completely cycled yet) but they were at a safe level?

So which do I believe? Do those test strips go bad after a while maybe?

I had four goldfish...I cleaned out their tank and the next morning 3 of them died. It has been a week and now the one fish is fine but there is this gooey...jelly looking stuff at the bottom of the tank and on some off the plants. It has orange and white specks...kinda looks like his food. Under the water it looks like clear cotton, but when you take some of it out...its really gooey...anyone know what this could be? Thanks
