Someone my mom's friend's black balloon mollies gave birth and now she is trying to get rid of them. She wants me to have some. I am moving 3 of my fish and getting 2 other ones I am planning to get into a 5 gallon tank. I have an 18 gallon tank with:
- 2 algae eaters (one is VERY shy)
- 3 fancy guppies (2 female 1 male)
- 2 neon tetras (1 died :-( ...)
- 2 sunset coral dwarf platies (again 1 died from tail rot...)
- 3 glow light tetras
- 2 harlequin rasboras (again again 1 died of mysterious causes....)

Are these guys compatible with black balloon mollies? Also, I am planning to get 2 honey gouramis for my 5 gallon tank and planning on moving 3-4 of my other fish, but I don't know which ones..... Please help! You guys are really generous and kind! (sometimes anyway....)

i have a 55 gal which i just transfered the fish and decals into a 65 gal, while emptying the water out of the 55 i relized i had little hairlike white worms in the black rocks (which i didnt trasfer to the other tank) after researching it , i came up with that its due to food left on teh bottom of the tank. is there any fish that eat flake food off the bottom of a tank? its a freash water tank i have a type of sucker/cleaning fish im not sure what is called and its huge but obvously not doing its job when it comes to food on the bottom.and its not a placosomes..any sugesstions on what kind of fish i should buy? also algea eater fish that dont get huge? im convenced no worms or hardly any got into my new tank cuz everytrhing is new in the new tank other than the fish and one accessorie house thing.

I only had him 4 days! His tank had a bubbler, filter, rocks..etc! He just started hanging around at the bottom of his tank..then lastnight he was swimming around but like jerking alot it was odd..then this morning I woke up and he was all dead and fuzzy in the bottom of the tank..what happened?

I have tried plecos but they always die....the tank has been up and running for ten plus years. I would also really like to keep a pleco. I bet I have bought over a dozen and they all die within a month?
I have a filter, heater, all the normal equipment. The tetras do very well. I also have a cory cat that has done well for a few years. Also I have never had a fish get big....I feed twice a day and clean...add water when needed. I had some clown loaches and gave them to my friends son and the things got huge. In my tank they stayed the same forever.
Also, I forgot to say it is a fifty-five gallon tank. There are eight tetras and the cory cat currently...all under two inches.

so i have really murky dark green water. So i am thinking it is that algae water. I have heard of this product called AlGone. Does it work? How do you use it? I have heard you just stick it in your tank underwater, do you need to remove your filter or anything. and how long does it take?

I have 20 male and female guppies and a few are pregnant now.
However, i also want to breed Mollies.
Question is: although both species of fish will live happily together, will the Mollies and the Guppies eat each others fry?

2 days ago i bought a female swordtail and it looked like it was doing fine. Then today it was swimming frantically up and down the wall and is now hiding or down at the bottom. I made 2 water changes in the last 3 days to make sure the water was fine. The other fish i have are a male swordtail and a loach. Is it that there is something wrong with the water, did i not acclimate right, or is it from being terrorized from the other fish? And what should i do?

Earler I had asked for help regarding this high ph and high alkalinity in my tropical tanks. First I would like to say thanks to you who have been so kind to want to help.
Now for a bit more info.
We were purchasing spring water for water changes and distilled for "topping off'. Then due to job losses we could no longer purchase water... and so enter our local fish expert.
We had our tap water analyzed.. results
7.5ph
3dgh
14dkh
The spring water tested at..
6.5ph
3dgh
2dkh
That is when our expert advised adding the acid and alkaline buffers. And now we are running with a high 8.4 ph and the highly alkaline water.
Any additional help would be appreciated. I should have included all this in the beginning. Thanks

Hi there, I'm thinking about getting a 60L Tropical Biorb. I've never had fish before so obviously I need to do a lot of research but could you give me advice on the best type of fish to keep. My kids like the ones from Finding Nemo ie Clown Fish and the blue and yellow Tangs (I think) but I'm not sure the tank is right for them. I'm needing something easy to start with. Would also appreciate any usefull websites, I've Googled a few but not sure what I'm looking for. Thanx!!!

Hi All, Well i got a few fish from my pet store this past weekend all clown fish, A looked them over closly before i got them and they seemed ok, I got up this morning to a few dead fish and my others looking kinda slimy with like a white coating all over them , Will i know i need to treat the tank but i`m not sure if its ich or marne velvet, If its marine velvet i was told they will all die, What should i do and how should i do it , I dont think i can catch all these fish in my tank since i have alot of rock and its 160 gallon tank, As there something i can use to get rid of it and better my fish without killing all my coral and fish , Or should i try to catch all my fish and put them in a medican tank then treat it with a coper based treatment
