I have an Oscar, a red bellied Pacu and two needle nose fish, that I feed "feeder" fish the Oscar and Pacu are around 5-6 inches in length. How many feeders should I be feeding them? I feel like I am going broke buying feeder fish all the time, and is there anything else i can feed them?

The oscar and the pacu will eat pellets fairly well and of course fish filets. The needle nose could remain a problem as they rarely eat non living foods very well, but at least that could reduce the feeder fish you are having to buy.

I feed my Oscars live fish about twice a month. I usually only buy 2 each and then some ghost shrimp(about 6 at a time). Make sure you are not feeding them fish from the overstocked tank. Many of those fish have diseases. I buy fish that people usually buy for pets for my Oscars. I get them for about a dollar each(when they are on sale) and the ghost shrimp are about 12-30 cents each. Make sure you feed them pellets as well. Mix up their diet. Pellets, live fish, freeze dried brine shrimp, live or freeze dried crickets, live mill worms, frozen blood worms, plankton, they also have food specifically for Oscars. Email me if you need anymore suggestions or have any questions.
