Odds are very good that it's nothing a 50% water change won't fix. Maybe a little over fed and the ammonia spiked. Try a water change and check the temperature of the tank. If that doesn't do it in a day or so, then repost the question with far more details about your tank and fish and maybe we can help more.

First off, don't blame your uncle. He was trying to do you a favor and I am sure he feels bad enough.

If they are all swollen, it may be dropsy, try giving them a squashed pea. If they have ich or another parasite, treat them. Raise your temperature in the tank to 80, add 1 tbs salt per 5 gallon. If they are floating upside down...well, ....

keep the fish tank clean, let them have enough oxygen in the water, such as: water fish pump. Give them regular fish food (once a day).

What have you done to make them near death? I'm not a mind reader, but I can guess you overfilled a small bowl or tank with goldfish.
