Fish - February 2007

We have 5 Blackmoor fish in our aquarium. This morning I found on one of them a flat yellowish transparent creature, that's stuck on one of them - it was on their tummy now it's near the eye, it seems to have some legs or feelers, it's only about half a centimetre long, so I can't give a better description.. Does anybody know what it is, if it's harmful to my fish (it certainly doesn't look pleasant) and what to do with it?
Any info greatly appreciated, guys, thank you.

Hello its me again. I had two Powder Blue Tangs in my 46 gallon tank. Now there's only 1, I think it was killed. Anyways I'm thinking about getting a Blue Regal Tang. Its suppose to be more peaceful than the powder blue. Do you think the Regal Blue and the Powder Blue will get along. Or should I remove the Powder Blue all together and house a Regal Blue Tang instead? Will the Regal Blue Tang get along better with other fish and tangs in general? What about two Regal Blue Tangs? Will that work?

My Pearl Gourami has been suffering a bit lately, she has been under the weather for a couple of weeks. She had white spot which now seems to of cleared but i have just noticed that one of her eyes has clouded over, it is virtually white and it is enlarged, also on the same side she has lost all colour around that area apart from a pink colouring, naturally she is a dark brown. I have now removed her from the tank, it is worth treating? does anybody know what it could be? This fish just seems to be always sick

My betta, Bob died 4 days ago. I'm not even quite sure why Bob died...I only had him for a year and not even two months. The day before he died, he was being his usual self...getting excited when I come and feed him, swimming about his tank. Then, the next day, I noticed he was on the bottom of his tank, but I didn't really notice that he was DEAD. I thought he was down there digging up his rocks like he normally does.
When I got back from school, I checked on him, and he was in the same place as he was in the morning...and realized that he was dead. His head was half off his body, and his normal purplish blue body has faded a few shades.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened to Bob? Did he get intoxicated? I mean, I feed him everyday the right amout (one flake) and I change his water every week, and clean out his entire bowl when it gets pretty grungy.

Please help! I would like to know the cause of my betta's sudden death!

Isn't it great I started to run my saltwater tank, and I added a Damselfish. The tank has alredy been working for about 9 days. I want to get some more fish this weekend. But I want to know if it is ok to add some more fish.I want to know which kind of marine fish are hardy and easy to keep in a small saltwater tank. I also would like to know exactly how much water do you change when you do a partial water change. I would also like a wesite with lots of information on how to care for a saltwater tank.

Ammonia- between 0 and .25
nitrite- 0
ph 8
Kh- 14
temp 77

What point (amount of ammonia) should I do a water change to protect my fishies (blue tetras) from getting ammonia poisoning. I'm hoping it won't get too high since it was seeded and has live plants in it.

thanks

This morning when I woke up, the water in my 55 gallon tank was cloudy. I checked the ph and ammonia levels. They were off the chart. I have done a 50% water change. I have live plants in the aquarium, so I am using a DIY CO2 system. Could that have caused the problem? I just did a 25% water change on Monday morning.

The ph levels are high and so is the ammonia levels. ph didn't crash. My tank has been running for over 4 months now. When I did my weekly water change I cleaned the filters in the old water in a pail, then put them back in. The only difference is that I bought 5 fish yesterday. Could that be the problem then?
