I want to start an aquarium but don't want the fuss of a heater, I've seen some fish which like 22c temp, is this warmer than a cold water tank would be? Also, what are the best cold water fish, goldfish are cool but I want something a bit different

I had my tank set up for 3 days I just added fish on Thursday 2 elecipse catfish and 2 Barbs. I bought my deluxe tank at walmart and the fish at petsmart. I have great levels I just checked them, it's just the water is cloudy and it stinks. I just changed 10% water but I probably will change it all again. Only thing is what can I do to about the fish when I clean the whole tank? I live 30 minutes away from walamrt and I have a well so I use spring water. I was told the catfish will cloud the water for a bit but I opened the lid and the water stunk. Any idea's? And when I get the water it'll be cold so what can I do about that? I the temp is at 76degree's.

I'm sure many of you have noticed that I'm asking lots of questions about changing my tanks around and adding fish. So far I have been lucky with the fish I have purchased but I don't want to gamble much more then I already have. So I'd like to know how some of you set up quarentine tanks with everything needed for the least amount of money? And how long should a fish be quarentined before it's safe to release?

We have a Tetra aqua art 30 litre tank:
with 6 small coldwater fish and a Elite mini filter :
Which according to that site is only good for about 11 litres. Will the filter be ok?

It certainly doesnt appear underpowered, i only have it on half flow as any higher and it seems to just fill the tank with bubbles.

in a 29 gallon tank I have 5 diamond tetra, 2 cory cats (going to get 3 more) 1 angel fish, 1 rainbow shark. I would like to bring some color into the tank with neon tetras so I'm assuming I'm going to have to get rid of the angel for the room and so they don't get eaten. I have a 120 gallon tank downstairs I can move him/her to and I'm going to add 5 more angels later.

question 1: Will the neons be ok in the 29 gallon? How many could I get?
question 2: How can I safely move my angel.. I'm so scared to lose him in the moving?
question 3: Can I add 5 small angels later with this one large one in there (3 inches body size)?

Thanks for help!

In the 120 so far I have 6 serpae tetra, 2 red rams, 2 dojo loaches, 1 dwarf frog. My b/f got the frog without consulting me so I don't know anything about the compatability on it with any of the others.

I have many goldfishes in my 24 gallon(90 litres) fish tank. One of them has laid eggs yesterday (16th Feb 2007). Most of the eggs have been eaten by other goldfish but I still have some of them in another bowl seperately and may be some of them are left in the tank. How much time will these eggs take to hatch? How does the goldfish fry will look? What to feed them? Shall I return the eggs/fry back to the tank?

I bought my son some fish for his 5 years old birthday...Two swordtail fish in a one gallon size Aquarium.
Both fish seemed to be doing well..until..
this morning.... I woke up and noticed one of the fishes, the baby one, had died and was floating at the bottom of the tank.
I did not have the proper materials to get him out and I also noticed we had been grossly overfeeding them..
Help!!!
I know I need a siphon..but I had to run out the door to work after I saw it and now I am at work thinking the other fish is now going to pass due to the first firsh passing..
If I go home after work and use a siphon to remove the dead fish and clean the water will it be too late?

This morning when I woke up, the water in my 55 gallon tank was cloudy. I checked the ph and ammonia levels. They were off the chart. I have done a 50% water change. I have live plants in the aquarium, so I am using a DIY CO2 system. Could that have caused the problem? I just did a 25% water change on Monday morning.

Last night I bought an elephantnose fish to add to my 30 gallon aquarium. I currently have 2 angelfish in there and the man at the store said the elephantnose would be fine with them. He also said that the elephantnose may become pale for the first couple of days due to stress.
Well, anyway, he was put in the tank last night and the lights have been kept off. When I got up this morning, the top half of him was completely white. It almost looks as if he has a white coating, but the other fish are still okay, and it's only his top half.
I did treat for fungus about a week ago with a penicillin treatment. Do you think this could cause his color change, or is it natural? Please help me save him!
