I have many goldfishes in my 24 gallon(90 litres) fish tank. One of them has laid eggs yesterday (16th Feb 2007). Most of the eggs have been eaten by other goldfish but I still have some of them in another bowl seperately and may be some of them are left in the tank. How much time will these eggs take to hatch? How does the goldfish fry will look? What to feed them? Shall I return the eggs/fry back to the tank?

You ought to place the parent of the goldfish (if you know which female it was) into the tank with the eggs. If not, don't make a wrong guess. Fish eggs may take 8 days to hatch. In the meantime, enjoy watching this beautiful cycle of life! You'll remember it always.

The eggs will hatch in a few days. Move the eggs only to grow out tank........ 10 gallon Bare aquarium ( No gravel) fry are to small and will become stuck in the gravel and die. A sponge filter (reg filter will stuck up the fry) air pump with new stone. And melafix. This is an antibodic and is needed. The unfertilized eggs will grow fungus and this will kill any fertilized eggs or fry, if melafix isn't used daily for 2 week period....... If the eggs are slighty colored then they were fertilized. If the eggs are white they are unfertilized. Move the eggs to a baggie and float the in the bare for 20 minutes ( this aquarium MUST BE FILLED FROM WATER FROM THE PARENTS TANK!!!!!!) Release the eggs in the aquarium near the air stone this will cause turbulance and hatch the eggs. add 5ml of melafix daily for a few weeks this prevents bacterial infections.... after 7 days do 10% water change with a turkey baster being careful not to suck up the fry. End of second week do another 10% water change...........Good luck and have fun! Julie

The eggs may take atleast 10 days to hatch. But you will have to bring the mother fish in the bowl where you have kept the eggs for the feeding & care.Noooooooo if you want to get baby goldfishes do not do so.

BEST OF LUCK.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you will have nice babies of goldfish.

If interestingly like cotton (fuzzy) that's non fertilized eggs with fungus on them. they gained't hatch, so no fish would be born. it would additionally basically be fungus on meals or something else. If the goldfish releases eggs in a tank without different goldfish, there is not any way they are fertile. the female releases eggs and the male fertilizes them at the back of her, they have not got inner fertilization like human beings, or livebearing fish. The habit you describe appears like breeding the place the male is attempting to allure to the female to place the eggs so he can stick to at the back of her and fertilize them.

they usually hatch after 5 days.

i would feed them infusoria and baby brine shrimp for the first few weeks then move on to powered flake food.
remember to remove uneaten food after feeding.

i would keep the eggs and fry separate from the adults because they will just eat them, even the mother would eat them.
