I have 2 African Chichlids..1 is a Yellow Lab and the other is Orange. I belive the Yellow Lab is Male because he has Black in the two lower fins..My Orange one I just put back in the population because I had it separated in a breeders net because someone niped its tail fin off and it has now recovered.
As soon as I put the Orange one back with the others the Yellow Lab swam up to it and started to Vibrate its body, then chase it around the tank, then they both swam into the cave.
The Yellow Lab didnt try to bite the Orange one.
So my question is.. is this part of Mating or Bullying?
I don't know if the Orange one is Female.

This is a really dumb question I know, but…
I have read that in order to grow plants you need at least 2 watts of fluorescent light per gallon of water. I have a 29 gallon tank, which means that I need about 60 watts of light. The light that came with my tank hood only has a 20 watt bulb. I have been to 2 hardware stores and 2 fish stores and neither one of them sells fluorescent bulbs higher than 30 watts.

My question is; where do I get 60 watts of fluorescent light so that I can grow plants?

Thank you.

Can goldfish survive in an outdoor pond during the winter even if the temperatures go below 0 degrees and the pond freezes over?

Will they need any food during that period?

I posted a question on how to rid my tank of ich a while back. While I think some of the answers worked, my fish were far too sick to survive. What are the best steps to start over? I plan on draining the whole tank and refilling before I start adding fish. What can I clean the rocks and stuff with to inusre healthy fish in the future? Thanks for all your answers.

Do these need any lighting to grow, the only light they really get is from the tiny lightbulb over the tank that does not do much and from the window, so I am not sure what to do because I can't put it on the window sill or anything because my betta will die since they can't be in direct sunlight.

They are 2 goldfish and we have only had them for less than 20 hours. I fed them the correct food, and we used their own water along with a supplement to help take out the chlorine of the tap water. Now they are only on the top of the water and breathing there. They have been doing that for at least a couple hours now and before they were swimming near the bottom. Are they just hungry, or are they having trouble breathing?

What type of food is best? I currently have the sinking pellets, although they don't sink very well. They also aren't swimming very well. They kind of stay at the bottom and don't swim very high? Is that normal?

It's a 5-gallon tank.. I want to get a couple fish and a small turtle OR frog... Are there any frogs and/or turtles that will live underwater 100% of the time and don't have to come up above water on some sort of perch. If so.. what fish and turtles/frogs can live harmonious together and not want to each one another? I'm going tonight to pick out my new aquatic friends, so any and all serious answers would be of much help! Thanks!
