It's a 5-gallon tank.. I want to get a couple fish and a small turtle OR frog... Are there any frogs and/or turtles that will live underwater 100% of the time and don't have to come up above water on some sort of perch. If so.. what fish and turtles/frogs can live harmonious together and not want to each one another? I'm going tonight to pick out my new aquatic friends, so any and all serious answers would be of much help! Thanks!

I love turtles but have never had one as a pet. But, I can give you my input on frogs. There are several varieties of aquatic frogs that live in the water 100% of the time. There are grey frogs and albino white frogs. They co-habitate well with most fish. But, don't put them with very small fish as we had some white mollies who had babies and one frog ate all 70 babies in one night! His belly was all swelled up. Also, you will need a good tight-fitting lid for your aquarium as I had a couple of frogs jump out of a very small gap in the lid and dry out and die on the floor while I was out. Ick! But, good luck! :-)

Turtles: no, I am not aware of ANY turtle that can live under water 100% of the time and stays tiny.
Fish: due to size you're limited to a betta and some cory cats.
Frogs: african dwarf (not clawed) frogs would be great for a tank this size!

You could even get a betta, and an african frog together.

Just make sure you cycle the tank before adding the fish or they may die when it begins to cycle with them in it. Please visit www.aquahobby.com for more info on cycling (in the articles section)

no turtle. turtles need 20 gallons. Sometimes local pet/fish stores have underwater frogs that can jump out, but shouldn't be out. Remember to treat your water with a conditioner and cycle the tank!!!

There are some frogs but they would still need to surface form time to time because they don't have gills not does a turtle. A turtle, or most of the turtles, eat live fish. Turtles need to be kept with one a nother unless you set up a river tank. In a 5g aquarium, that would virtually be impossible to successfully do that. I would suggest some nice colored orandas or fantail goldfish. They have very nice colors and are simple to take care of. Your frog can live with them as well. Make sure your tank is set up prior to purchasing your new aquatic friends. If you get a frog, I would suggest purchasing tubifex for them to eat. It is best to take a small piece and hold it in front of their face so that they may grab it from you. It is easier for them to eat that way.-Good Luck

I think turtles all need to get out of water sometimes and they would eat your fish. Plus that's a small tank. You could probably get an african dwarf frog though. Maybe with one other fish because that's a small tank.

Frogs and turtles breath AIR and CANNOT live underwater. Besides that, both of them need land to climb out on.

I would never, ever suggest a 5 gallon tank. Its is WAY to difficult to maintain water quality and temperature to that ammount of water. Never buy less than a 20 gallon aquarium.

i dont beleive there are ny turtles that are 100% aquatic. There are frogs, African Dwarf Frogs are great, just make sure (at teh petstore) that it doesnt have claws, because its more agressive cousin teh African clawed is ouften sold as teh ADF, but teh ACF will kill some fish!

i have an ADF with dwarf gouramis, guppies, glolite tetras, a snail, and shrimp in a 29 GALLON tank! you couldnt do dwarf gouramis, but you could do...

Options:
#1
1 ADF
2 guppies
4-6 small tetras(such as glolite, neon, cardinal, and others the same size)

#2
1 ADF
6-10 tetras(such as glolite, neon, cardinal, and others the same size)
1 mystery snail
1-2 small shrimp(such as marble or glass)

#3
1 ADF
1-2 or 4(i have had bad experience with only 3 guppies) guppies
1 mystery snail

you can mix those together just make sure you dont overcrowd too much!

good luck and have some fun!

p.s. ask eth petstore dude for any other suggestion of tank mates with an ADF, find a guy/grl that looks that they kno what they are talking about! i always go to one petsmart and look for teh same guy cuz he knows what he is talking about

The answer above is just about right(first post). But if you like turtles, like i do, i w ould change the frog wit a box turtle or something like that that you can put on a little island in the tank. That might work if you like turtles enough.
