Fish - December 2006

hi. i have 2 angel fish in my aquarium. they were fighting and i tried to stop them by tapping at the glass. that really scared one of my angel fish and he hit himself against the glass. now he swims really strange. upside down and sideways. i know i shouldnt of tapped the glass . i am really scared that he might die. i put some stress coat liqiud in the acqurium. is there anything else i could do?

Recently my plecostemus bottom feeder has been swimming around near the surface of the water instead of sucking onto things like normal.

When I gave him a good exam i noticed that he had little white spots on his head. They looked almost like they were indented like some fugis is eating him or something. What should I do?

I was thinking maybe i should take him out and put him in some other type of container (bowl/plastic container) and treat him with melafix till he is well. What do you think? Its strange how he has been swimming around more.

My puffer fish puffed up and now he's paralyzed. I know they can live through it but it is rare! He also puffed up air which is even worse! What do i do to insure his existence??

Have had a 150 gallon salt and a 75 gallon fresh tank for years. It seems like the few times I have got a fish from PetCo...their fish wiped out my tank. Has this happened to you? Best Story gets Best answer!

my fish is actting like its gonna die and i dont know why but he wont eat and wont move hardly the only time it moves is when i tap on the glass why does it do that for and what else besides gold fish that they eat can you feed him feeder goldfish?

I tried using water and getting all the air bubbles out. But once the water dried out, air bubbles developed, and now when you're at an angle you don't see the background because of the air inbetween the glass and background. How do I fix this so there are no bubbles?

I just got my fish a fancy gold fish for my son. As soon as I had it showed signs of the fin rot. I went to the pet store that we got the fish at and he gave me some meds for it. It is only a gallon tank so he told me to cut the pill into 8. I did this. Should I put one of the little tiny things in it for 5 days? or 8 days to make it a full tablet? I hope my fish is going to be okay, if it's not I give up and I am not having any more fish.
Any other suggestions?

I read up on them and found that they are brackish water fish, and my aquarium is a freshwater tank. I have been using aquarium salt made of evaporated sea water, and that seems to have been good enough for my 2 blackfin sharks and molly, I have many other fish besides those, but those require the most salt. Please tell me If my Dragon Goby will do ok, and how much salt should I add to the tank, and how often. Also, if i use a small amount of marine salt, will that hurt my other fish? (Peacock eels, tiger barbs, gold gourami, serpae tetras, platys, upsidedown catfishes)

I have 4 Bettas in a 10 gallon tank with dividers, and they always get pissed off when they look at each other. I think it's because they're finally happy because I put the heater in there, but I think by being too active and pissed off, they might get stressed out and die really fast. So I was thinking of putting plants and rocks between the dividers so they won't see each other that much anymore. So is that a good idea and what do you think I should do otherwise?

Hi, it's been 4 days since I got my 55 gallon tank filled with water.
I have been doing a fishless cycle by adding pure ammonia at 5 ppm. Its been 4 days and i see white web like stuff hanging from my decors..... What is this stuff and is this harmful? Should i get rid of it? Also, there pretty a lot on my decors.

One of my goldfish is acting really wierd. It's on it's tummy like what dead fishes are flipped upside down. But it is still alive, you can see it moving backwards(slowly) it also tries to flip back unsuccessfully. Something is wrong and i really need help on what is wrong with my goldfish.

Practically it is my mom's fish and i don't know what she will do if she finds out. Big time trouble!!!!

I have been doing 10-20% water changes now for the past 4 days and the Nitrate levels in my saltwater tank are still very high. All the other levels (ammonia, nitrite, PH, etc.) are safe. The tank has been running for over a year now. What is going on?

Other then Hot water, is there any thing else I can make or use to help disinfect the things that go in and out of my fresh water tank? I often change the decorations and I want to make sure that there clean, is there any thing that I could buy or hopefully make?

I have many fish tanks, a turtle tank, and a few betta tanks. and I just want something I can use that is safe, and will kill more germs ext....

Any help would be nice!
