If you already have an established aquarium, put in 1/3 well water with what's in there. In 2 days, take out 2/3 of the water and fill it with well water. After another couple days, you can change the water completely. Remember that changing the water still means leaving about 1/4 of what's in there in. You might want to buy some stress coat to add to the water, and definitely some hard water neutralizer. DO NOT use your well water if you have a water softener hooked up--or fill up from an outside hose, which won't be run through the softener.

Generally, it is OK to use well water for the fish tank, unless it has far too much a solute (salt) content. This would be seen if the well is far too close to the sea, or there is a nearby underground salt deposit left from eons ago. If the water tastes good, it should be OK. Since well water is not chlorinated, you do not have to let it sit aside. In contrast, chlorinated tap water has to be set aside for a few days for the chlorine to escape before use. Well water is pumped directly for immediate use in many large tanks and ponds in aquaculture.

Yes, but you need to let ther filters run, and the fish tank set for at least 3 to 4 days.

It depends what is in your water. Fish are sensistive to PH, Nitrate, nitrite, alkanlinty and hardness. the best thing is to use water conidtioner if you are not sure your water is free of any cholrine or any harmful bacteria. Some places sell testing kits or will test for you. Personally I would use conditioner to be safe or distilled water (since it goes through a pufication process).

No. You should not use well water for the fish tank. Fish are sensitive creatures, and your well water probably has concentrated minerals in it that the fish are not accustomed to. Just use the city water filtered through a Brita, or get some distilled water. Water wont change for the better if you let it sit out. lol.

check your well water's PH level.. if it's aroudn 7.0 then great...
Do you drink from the well? If it's safe for you, then it's ok for them too.. The problem with well water is that a lot of it is contaminated with chemicals industries dump around the city/town... sad, but it's true.. There's benzine, herbicide, insecticides, fertilizers and much much more.

you shouldnt have to, as well water is natural, right? unless you put a hose in it or something, this water is suitable to put with fish right away. as goldfish like natural water. but if you are in doubt about the water then i suggest you leave it for 24 hours for the chloride and chlorine to vaporise {if any}>

Well water is GREAT for fish tanks because it contains no added chemicals to "purify" it. You don't need to use waer conditioner, and you don't even need to let it sit, because there is nothing in natural well water that can hurt fish.
