Weekly, siphon the uneaten food and stuff off of the bottom of the tank(and as much as you can get out of the gravel). Replace the water with fresh, dechlorinated water that is the same temperature as the water in the tank. Before siphoning you can scrape the algae off of the glass, but if you do weekly water changes there won't be much to scrape. This is the most important part of fish keeping,it will allow the fish to stay alive long enough to for you to learn the other things that will come along. Good luck to you and your fish. PeeTee

I am guessing that this is for a fresh water tank, but if you have the tank in sunlight you will have to clean the glass more often due to algea. I use a pad to wipe the sides off and then you should do a 40% water change every weeks, but you can get away with like 2 months. Also when you clean it you should change the filter bag.

Once a week, I scoop a gallon or so out and put fresh, treated water in to fill it back up. I also have one of those fish that sucks along the inside cleaning and ghost shrimp clean the bottom in the gravel.

if the tank is a fresh water tank you can use a gravel vacuum.
Also placastomus fish(sucker fish) lol to keep algae under control.
Salt water is a little more difficult as u need to balance the salt water chemicles any good petshop/fishshop can give you recomendations.
