Well if they're big fish like Japanese Koi then you need to feed those kind of fish a lot. If they're small ones, the kind that fit in a fishbowl or a small aquarium a small amount on your palm would do. If you feed your fish too much it can get the water cloudy, breed bacteria or ulitmately kill your fish.

Just feed a very small pinch and watch for a few minutes. You will soon see if all the fish are getting a bit and that all the food gets eaten within about 2-5 minutes. If it is still floating/sinking/swirling around the tank after 5 minutes, you fed too much.

Overfeeding does not make your fish blow up or any such thing but it does pollute the water and THAT is what kills the fish. It is not the overfeeding, it is the polluting that does it.

And to those who made comments about fish dying that were "only goldfish" - shame on you. A fish is a fish. You should look after it the same and its life is just as valuable.

just feed your fish as much as they will eat in a little less than a minute no more than 2 times a day. if you are feeding them too much then you will need to do very large water changes(25%~40%) much more frequently(like twice a week) to keep the water from reaching toxic levels of nitrates and if you add too much then you could end up overloading the biological filter and causing an ammonia and nitrite spike that could kill or severly damage your fish

I have 4 Gold fish and some guppies..I would say to give them 2 ok size pinches a day...Morning and Night ... If you over feed them they will most likely die but sometimes they don't..Yes your water will get cloudy but they eat all the food in the tank.. If you don't want cloudy water then try getting some fish food that doesn't cloud up the water.

You shouldn't feed them more than twice a day., just feed them as much as they can consume in a matter of minutes. if you over feed them you will find them floating on top of your tank later. It will kill them. I learned the hard way. lucky they were just gold fish and not some expensive ones. Read the directions on the container. Best of luck to you and your fish.

If you feed your fish too much it will die. How much food goes to the fish depends on what type of fish it is. Since I do not know specifics the best I can suggest is a couple pinches everyday.

No they will not all die 8-| , Unless you have a betta, they will eat until they die. But normal fish, will not eat until they die, when i accidentally over-feed(doesn't happen much) the fish just leave the food fall to the ground, and later see it and eat it when they are hungry again.

Fish don't require much food. Sprinkle a little food on the top of the water and it should be all gone within 5 minutes. If you see any food left over in the tank, it means that they were fed too much.

Nothing really, you may get a really dirty fish tank and the water will get cloudy. But if you have any scavenger fish (like snails or ghost shrimp) i guess its ok to overfeed.
