Apple snails are good snails, they come in many different colors including blue, magenta and ivory. They need both a male and female to reproduce unlike many other types and they lay their eggs above the water line. Here is a website to tell you more about them, http://applesnail.net/
BTW koi are not an aquarium fish and should be kept in large ponds of 1000+ gallons, they can grow up to 3 feet long. Goldfish also grow large, up to 18 inches so they need a large tank of around 50 gallons for each fish. Fancy goldfish only need around 20 gallons for each fish but they shouldn't be kept with koi or single tailed goldfish since they may get picked on.

I had koi and whenever I put a mystery snail in with them the snail would be dead in a few days. The koi seemed to like to pick on them.

Apple snails are a good choice because they are big and easy to discard if you grow too many of them. Most folks don't want snails because they reproduce so quickly, climb out of the tank sometimes and before you know it, they're everywhere in your aquarium.

It should be ok, but snails are a host for many of the parasites that affect fish. That's nature, though. You could get snails from your local fish/pet store. Some pet stores will give you free snails if they have some of the small snails that are breeding out-of-control in their tanks. Larger snails would be a good idea in this situation. This would include ramshorn, apple, or mystery snails.

I have a therty gallon tank with one koi and 10 goldfish. Last year I put a snail in with them and the next day threre was only a shell left. Also I read that goldfish and koi in there natural habitat eat snails, worms, bugs, and plants so if I were you I wouldn't get a snail. If you want something to clean your tank I suguest geting a pleco ( sucher fish), they clean the tank faster and get along with goldfish.

it's OK, but i suggest NOT to add snails, they DONT clean out the tank, they AREN'T amazing little creatures, they make it harder to clean out ur tank, they are also very hard to keep alive.
