Yes you can, however, tropical fish and coldwater fish have differing nutritional needs, so you couldn't feed it permanently, as the fish may end up with a deficiency.

Depends what fish and what food! Gold-fish and Koi Carp should be fed on the flake made for them (the nutrient balance is designed for them) but can be given any of the frozen or fresh foods like daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworm as well!
Some 'tropical' fish can be kept as cold water fish so should be fed tropical flake and frozen or fresh.
If you keep native fish and live in the UK then they should be fed on as natural a diet as possible and frozen or fresh foods as above.

You could, but personally I wouldn't. Tropical, coldwater, marine fish have different nutritional needs which have been determined by their true environment. This is why there are different foods available on the market.

i have done if i have run out as i had both fish.still have tropical but my coldwater got to big for tank and had to go in a pond.
