I want to get a pet shark, i am researching them now, what sizes do they come in and what is the easiest and/or smallest one allowed to be kept as a pet?

if i do decide to get one, how do i convince my parents to let me get one?

ok i just bought a saltwater tank and i have two damsels and a smaller live rock in there and the nitrate level is high how do i lower that? also someone told me i needed to wait 6 to 7 months to add any kind of fish besides damsels is this correct? they also told me i didn't need to do water changes to just let the filter do the work. Any comments would be helpful.

I know this is an awkward questions but will a male betta mate with any other female fishes other than a female betta? Cuz non of the stores near me sell female bettas :(

well in 5 days im going to panama florida.. do they have sharks there????? even the ones that stay in the shallow? and is there a good chance i'll get bit?

I have a 15 gallon tank with 10 or so small fish. The water is clear even though I have not cleaned the tank in 3 or 4 weeks.

So stress coating is supposed to coat fish with slime to help them heal, and salt is supposed to get rid of it to make them more responsive to meds.

1. do either ever filter out?
2. do they cancle eachother out?
3. is there anything else i should know about either?

I just bought a used fish tank and in it right now is an underwater filtration. I was wondering since I have this current underwater filter do I still need another filter, the kind like the bio-wheel or aqua clear filters. Thanks for your advice and help.

Fish have acid in their stomach to help breakdown and digest food, it begs the question of whether fish fart or not. does anyone knpw or seen tell tale bubbles rising in their fish tank.

I got two irridesent sharks about a week ago, and they seem to be doing fine. I've been feeding them flake food, but last time i went to the pet store i found some special catfish food, and tried switching them over to that. they like it and seemed to be eating it at first, but the problem is when i feed them, they usually just get so scared of my hand / falling objects they hide in the corner, and never find the food.

i don't have much time to transition them as i'm going on vacation wednesday, but i'm not sure if i should tell the friend that's watching them to feed them the shark pellet or the flakes.

should i be worried? will they just find it on their own if they get hungry enough? should i just screw it until i come back from vacation and keep them on the flakes?

Evidently years ago a speed boat hit and killed a giant 6ft catfish in Alabama. It was so large that it also did extensive damage to the boat. She is convinced that catfish that large have the ability to kill people. I have searched the net for even one instance of this ever happening and can find none. I have found that some catfish have been found messuring upwards of 9ft, and that some species have the ability crawl onto land in search of food. Her and her entire family believe this so I need some evidence to prove it is or isnt.
