I've got three goldfish in a tank that's about 2 months old, and the ammonia level has finally settled and isn't incredibly high (I think I killed a fancy goldfish with high ammonia), but now the nitrite levels are hovering around the "stress" level. Other than regular water changes, what are ways to lower this level?

Everyone knows what an algae eater looks like right? Their usually black fish that stick on the side of your fish tank and the "suck" the algae off. Well mine is about 2 inches long and everynight for the past couple of nights he's been turning a very light, almost white color. Is this normal and does anyone know why this is happening?

Can you reccomend a good website that ships artificial plants worldwide. I'm in Ireland and can't find any decent large artificial aquarium plants in the local pet shops.

I have a 80 gallon tank that has been sitting for awhile and I was wondering what the best cleaning material i would use to get all the gross build-up off of it. I tryed CLR it won't work. And using a razor blade would take way too long.. its a big tank!!! Any suggestions?

I bought a 5 gallon aquarium today and 3 'mickey mouse platies'. I have the aquarium set up. It came with a water dechlorinator and a filter. The aquarium instructions and the internet both advice to let the filter run 24 hours before putting the fish in. I already have the fish though! Are they better off in the bag they came in, or should I try the tank?

I got my daughter a 2 1/2 gallon tank for her bedroom. We filled it up, added the stuff to make the water safe, added a little aquarium salt, and put in a heater and filter.
We started with 2 guppies and a shrimp. First 1 guppy died, then the other. So we got another guppy. It died, then the shrimp died.
We took the heater out so the water could cool down, and after it did we added 3 goldfish. Two died pretty quickly. We then added a snail. Then the 3rd goldfish died. All that is left now is the snail. What could we possibly be doing wrong?

I remember reading an article before regarding the difference between aquariums and aquaria. But unfortunately, I cannot recall what the difference is.

Does anyone know the difference between the two terms?

I have a 30 gallon fish tank that I am going to set up this week. I want to put some convicts in there. Should I fill the water and let it set for a few weeks before putting any fish inside? Before I put the water in, should I put the rocks and decor in?
